Returning Afghans to #Afghanistan under Taliban rule while welcoming Afrikaner South Africans with open arms is such a blatant statement of the current U.S. Administration's racist, exclusionary agenda. Shameful.

In an order issued without reasons or rationale, SCOTUS allowed the Trump administration to deport migrants to countries not their own without first having the opportunity to demonstrate that they face a risk of torture.

🚨 Absolute horror show as Florida gets started building its own immigration detention center it’s calling “Alligator Alcatraz” in the Everglades to hold human beings in an area surrounded by alligators and snakes in horrific heat and with NO oversight

Andry José Hernández Romero is a 31-year-old makeup artist. He came to the U.S. seeking safety last year and his asylum hearing was scheduled for March 17th. But two days before his hearing, the U.S. unlawfully detained and expelled him overnight to CECOT, one of the most dangerous prisons in the Americas.
TAKE ACTION: https://t.co/q3ZqGSIUgm
There was no court order authorizing Andry’s removal. No notification of his attorney and no hearing to contest allegations against him.
Call on the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security to immediately return Andry and all others, ensure they can continue their immigration proceedings in the U.S., and halt any further expulsions

MAKE NOISE ON THIS ONE.
They didn’t just deport him—they sent him to CECOT, a max-security hellhole in El Salvador.
Agelviz came here legally last September with his mom and two little brothers through the U.S. refugee resettlement program—fully vetted. But when they landed in Houston, CBP snatched him over a tattoo: a clock and a rose. No charges. No record. Just a suspicion.
Imagine getting an asylum appointment from the U.S. government, showing up for your scheduled appointment, and then getting deported to a foreign prison.
That's what happened to Andry Romero. He deserves due process.
The presumption that #asylum seekers can pay these fees says how little these politicians understand re individuals fleeing torture, persecution, + violence, forced to seek protection outside their own countries.
Immoral, abhorrent, short-sighted + quite possibly illegal. 3/3
SIX YEARS AGO TODAY under Trump I-- Executive Director of @AsylumWorksDC Joan Hodges-Wu + I published this Op Ed w/ the Washington Post:

We focused on why forcing #asylum seekers to pay a fee to file for asylum is wrong. History repeats itself... 1/3
3 days ago #HouseRepublicans proposed charging $1000 to apply for #asylum + $100 each year that claims are pending, as well as $550 for the 1st work permit:
