Our book is finally out and available at https://t.co/exrDJ8P9c2. If you are an #STS or #Sociology academic and/or have an interest in #Bigfoot or #Bigfooting we would appreciate you sharing it. Thanks
The economics of this are well-known: the University overheads grow, get distributed between departments, driving some of them into deficit outside their control. Deficit departments get cut, income they bring in disappears, but overheads on buildings and central admin stay. 2/4
University crisis latest, and very bad indeed: Cardiff are proposing to cut 7% of their academics, and to drop a whole array of programmes including ancient history, modern languages and music. Predictable and yet still shocking. 1/4
Capped off this grim day for myself & colleagues at Cardiff Uni with an interview on @BBCWalesToday representing @CardiffUCU.
These cuts are cruel & unnecessary - we will fight them.

NEW: ‘A Cartography of Genocide’. Since October 2023, we have collected and analysed data related to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Our findings indicate that Israel has systematically targeted all aspects of civilian life. https://t.co/UUxYqpTF72
@loudavidson07 Thanks for the paper. Having used TST in live exercises myself, communication between those actively triaging and a point of command keeping a log is vital - especially in scenarios where casualty numbers are unknown. Would be interested in observational studies of the tool.
The New Developments in Ethnomethodology will be held at the Centre for Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies (CrimSL) at the University of Toronto, July 7-9. https://t.co/DhmKfoHTvX
Muslim community in Butetown/Tiger Bay has been here for almost 200 years. One of the oldest multicultural communities in the UK. Woven into our history since mid 19th Century. Online bigots who know nothing about the history & communities of Cardiff/Wales should pick up a book.
A really productive session discussing ways to undiscipline the academic conference via insights developed from the in situ relevancies and troubles prompted by Phil Brooker’s “ethnomethodological lanyards”.

A treat of a day at Loughborough with a feast of data and range of approaches to interaction and talk in forensic and criminal justice settings.
Kudos to @Richardson_Emm co-organisers + @DARG_sessions crew.
Already looking forward to the next one.

Terry Au-Yeung and Robin Smith's #ForensicCA2024 presentation shows how a police PR statement after a racialised assault by police officers works to destabilise/dilute the moral accountability of the police officer actions as constructed by quote tweets of the viral video #EMCA
