Ukrainian Solidarity Campaign doing an incredible work to support Ukraine. Recently, they brough Ukrainian trade-unionists to UK on the Trade-Union Congress. Ukrainians got the possibility to present our case, meet decision makers, politicians and influential organizations, as trade-unions still play an important part of UKs life and their approach influences in different ways approaches of the Labour Party.

Thanks to Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, such politicians as @wesstreeting, Secretary of State for Defence, met with Ukrainian trade-unions and listened to Ukrainian perspective, needs, socio-economic problems of Ukraine, but also about the direct needs of soldiers and veterans. As Ukrainian trade-unionists are not just working on defending socio-economic rights. Many strongholds of Ukrainian trade-union movement are Eastern cities, miner cities, where their members keep helping running the near-frontline cities in the extreme conditions. Its also trade-unions which members are at constant high risk, such as Nuclear workers trade-union, which due to the nature of Nuclear plants are practically have no choice but to stay in occupation and work to prevent a catastrophe, or energy workers, construction, railway, aforementioned miners, and so on.

Many of the trade-unionists are now in Armed Forces. And directly voicing their most basic needs in terms of supplies and support, to UK politicians.

Apart from that, Ukraine Solidarity Campaign constantly helps and organizes cars and other supplies for Ukrainian army, delivering them by themselves.

All of these activities are volunteer work, where many members of Campaign have their own jobs to manage, while at the same time organizing to support Ukraine. The USC does incredibly a lot with so little, and in many ways works unsustainably intensive.

Right now, USC spent nearly all the money availible for it to bring Ukrainian trade-unionists in UK and make the most out of it: events, discussions, meet ups with decision makers and trade-union membership. The campaign in hard financial situation and needs our help.

Working with so much determination and initiative, as well as experience and committment to Ukraine, as the campaign active for at least 10 years. The USC is incredibly effective, and where other organization may need several paid positions, fees and cover costs, USC organizes as much with as little. In my opinion, it is even a bit ridiculous.

Its also the people who I know for years, who supported us even before full-scale invasion.

Now it needs help to stabilize its financial situation after the Trade-Union Congress. Counting how much USC done, I do think that it is very important for those who can - to help them help us.

The sums are very modest, and at the very minimum (but I hope that we wont put very minimum as our goal) USC needs 700 dollars to cover up the expenses of the last campaign.

The Megan Romer interview with New Yorker that everybody says was a train wreck actually went rather alright for her because 1) Megan is quite smart and knew how not to walk into traps 2) David Remnick was rather nice and didn't probe too much.

The truth is plain: The Romer's wing of DSA thinks Cuba and Maduro's Venezuela and Maoist China are/were great examples of socialism, is supportive of Hamas and Houthis and thinks Roosevelt's New Deal was a rotten terrible thing.

AOC and Zohran hold diametrically opposed positions on all these questions as do 80 percent of DSA members. But they remain in an org represented by Romer's wing and they'll pay the political price for that unless and until they change ways.

About eleven years ago, I was asked to represent the DSA in a debate regarding whether socialists should support Bernie Sanders.

Even then, as the organization was still undergoing a transformation, I had reservations. I wrote to a few DSA old hands at the time: “After following the activist listserv for a few months, I've concluded that I may not be the best representative of DSA's position(s), which makes me a little nervous about being the public face of DSA for this event. I do think that my views are fairly representative of Boston DSA, but perhaps not of DSA as a national organization."

A board member reassured me, saying: "'You'll represent DSA admirably...I agree with 100% of what you wrote..yes, there is a vocal, younger "left" minority in DSA..some have good politics, but some (mostly a few folks around Jacobin in NYC) have, IMHO, way too favorable an opinion of the ISO."

The ISO, a Leninist organization, eventually imploded amid a sexual abuse scandal. Ironically, those same pro-ISO elements now constitute the right-wing of the DSA.

Why is every DSA candidate so cagey about Ukraine. There has never been a more clear cut country to support than Ukraine. If you valued democracy at all you should be unequivocal in your support of them.
