[North Lanarkshire SNP Group @nlc_snp]

Further to some misleading information that appears to be circulating, please see the below brief explainer of Council Standing Orders in relation to the SNP Group Emergency Motion to Council scheduled to take place Thursday 5th October at 4pm.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

The last time @HumzaYousaf mentioned North Lanarkshire he promised a review into why the SNP had lost 11 councillors in less than a year (now 12).

You don't ask a woman their age, a man his salary, or a North Lan SNP Group why they're not the administration anymore.

[Humza Yousaf @HumzaYousaf]

Local communities & @theSNP in North Lanarkshire have forced a Labour u-turn.

This Thursday, the people of Rutherglen & Hamilton West can vote SNP & force Labour-led South Lanarkshire Council to u-turn, and commit to permanently scrap price hikes for local community facilities.

[Cllr Paul Di Mascio @PaulDiMasci0]

Myself & Cllr Greg Lennon
have written to all NLC Cllrs on behalf of @ProgressNrthLan to seek support for a Special Meeting to discuss👇I hope the NLC SNP Group support this process as opposed to opting for the fantasy of acquiring the required 51 votes instead of 19 on Thursday

[Cllr Paul Di Mascio @PaulDiMasci0]

Well done everyone 👏we did it 👏 Huge thanks to everyone who made their voices heard 👏As per my other tweet, link below, time for Logue to Go & SNP must learn also & work for the better good of the people of NLC, like @ProgressNrthLan …

[Cllr Paul Di Mascio @PaulDiMasci0]

@paulhutcheon @paulhutcheon
@ProgressNrthLan have already set out a more plausible route to follow thorough on vote of no confidence by calling a special meeting, requiring only 19 signatures, ie another 8 signatures from SNP group as opposed to the 51 would require for VONC on Thursday 👇

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

@RosaZambonini As a former councillor, one would hope that you understand council standing orders. The provost will refuse this as incompetent under 6 month rule along with the unknown figures of the SPF. 51 votes needed to suspend standing orders while only 19 signatures for special meeting 🤦

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

@derekwatson89 Hopefully a number of the Labour councillors sign our letter requesting a special meeting of the council on these ludicrous closures!

Only 8 signatures away!

We would also ask that you contact your MP and MSPs and ask them to have their party colleagues within the Council support our call.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

@neilcgray @theSNP @CarragherT We hope that your colleagues in @nlc_snp will support our groups attempt at a special full council meeting. We already have cross party support from the Greens, BUP and independent councillors.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

The councillors who done this and should own it!

Their constituents are speaking against their decision!

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

Their response is as coherent as someone who has just woken up, and they have struck by passing the buck to those they should be representing, asking them what to do next and how to do their job🙈

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

The SNP in North Lanarkshire are finally acknowledging the proposed closures of multiple facilities across the region. However, instead of actively opposing these closures, they are asking officials to survey public opinion on these very crucial issues.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

Having been asleep at the wheel for the last 48 hours, the sleepyheads have finally awoken to the possibility of swinging Labour/Tory cuts to Community and Leisure services in their constituencies.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

At this point all Elected Members have been reminded by NLC Senior Officers of their requirement to non disclosure of the Proposal document content.  However, Progressive Change has today made known their concerns and written directly to the Local Government Minister.

[Progressive Change @ProgressNrthLan]

On Thursday 17th August, at a Special Full Council Meeting of North Lanarkshire Councillors, Elected Members were asked to consider and vote upon a significant departure from current NLC strategy. 🧵

This Accounts submission appeared in Companies House website / public domain PRIOR to the NLC Special Full Council Meeting.
Progressive Change NL has since lodged further written concerns and questions to NLC Chief Exec Officer, Des Murray.
