Congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard to make this a reality. Especially @PeteKrykant_OPC who led the way in the UK with the first recognised (not unofficial) Overdose Prevention Centre

The first step, not the final answer. Our turn in England now

[Paul Sweeney MSP @PaulJSweeney]

Britain's first official Overdose Prevention Centre opens in Glasgow this morning. I am grateful to everyone who has worked for many years to realise this.

5 years ago, I volunteered with @PeteKrykant_OPC to start the UK's first unofficial overdose prevention pilot.

I said at the time, "At a street level, if it saves one person from contracting HIV or dying from an overdose, then it will have been worthwhile."

We supervised 894 injections, reversed 9 overdoses, and saved 8 lives.

Whilst it is not a universal remedy for Scotland’s drug death emergency, it will save lives and it will be a place where extremely marginalised people can get the help they need.

I wish the team every success.

Spotlight on ketamine this week shows how much we need an honest and level discussion about the harms created by our current drug policies

Sheffield & everywhere we need to take drugs seriously, especially our politicians. Our communities are harmed by the continual implementation of failed #drugpolicy. Join us at the @anyoneschild event on 6th feb to learn more @DanJarvisMBE @olivercoppard

[NSWP @GlobalSexWork]

Today is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, a time to honour those that have experienced violence or been killed during the year, and to call for the decriminalisation of sex work to protect and fulfil sex workers' human rights.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to our Welcome Wall, made up of ideas of people at P6 as well as work donated by local artists.

Community is at the heart of what we do, the wall is a reminder that whatever the experiences that have brought you to us, you’re in the right place

[Project 6 @Project6_]

It's been a brilliant 3 days at #EHRC2024 in Warsaw. We've been hearing inspiring work from some passionate harm reductionists - from parraphanallia to policy, through evidence and empathy we resist the war on drugs

Thanks to everyone who came to the session on co-production

[Project 6 @Project6_]

The language we use shapes our understanding of, and our approach to removing barriers to support experienced people who use drugs - if we're serious about dismantling stigma, words really do matter.

This looks great on Thursday 👇👇

[Turning Point Scotland @turningpointsco]

Two weeks today will be our "Words Matter: A Knowledge Exchange Event with Turning Point Scotland & DRNS".

The event will focus on the importance of language when communicating about alcohol and other drugs.

3.
Accountability – if as a community we say we’re doing to do something, we do it.

[Project 6 @Project6_]

Friday is our last Your Voice event of 24. We set ourselves a challenge this year to push our understanding of what genuine co-production means for Project 6 and our community

Still a long way to go but we're sharing some lessons we've learnt so far (mostly by making mistakes!🧵

[Project 6 @Project6_]

2.
When it comes to making decisions, deciding what action we take and making change it's important to think about is ‘who's holding the pen?’. Is it really a co-produced solution if the organisation with most of the power has the most influence in deciding what that looks like?

[Project 6 @Project6_]

Who cares for the carers? Behind all our brilliant staff is an amazing People Team ensuring we have a resilient, expert, motivated workforce.

Good luck to the People Team at tonight's #yorkshireHRawards
