So why did the City Council rush to approve the application of the owner of Imperial Avalon on 7/7/20? Was it the campaign contributions?

It isn't like they didn't know the changes to the law were not forthcoming......

Carson City Council has been extremely active in the Park Closure process at the state level. The most recent effort is the development of AB 2782 - including drafting this bill with City funds.

We see from this report that Carson City Council was active in the development of the new law AB 2782 which ensures that park homeowners get FAIR MARKET VALUE for their homes upon park closure. And that law was passed and signed by the Governor on 8/30/30.

Evolve South Bay is a new apartment community in District 1 and GROUND ZERO of the housing affordability crisis in Carson.

While new housing options are welcomed; the cost of these rentals are downright shocking for current residents.

Walmart Neighborhood Market is the only full-service grocer in District 1. Many residents in our District travel miles, often outside the City limits, for groceries. Including the 1100 student beds on the CSUDH campus.

Entrepreneurial mindset is on the ballot. Carson Together™.

There are over 50 miles of protected bike lanes along the LA River, with a connecting point at Del Amo just East of the 710 freeway. Small problem - bikers in Carson have to risk life and limb to get there.

Carson deserves protected bike lanes.

California State University Dominguez is in District 1.

A 2019 campuswide survey reported that 3 in 5 students are food insecure and 1 in 6 are housing insecure. Yet CSUDH builds a dorm w/o a dining hall?

Doesn't Carson and it's residents deserve better?

The Carson Planning Commission explored with @Cinemark a limited use of alcohol, such as designated screens for "R" rated movies or otherwise. @Cinemark insisted on a blanket approval for all screens. The Carson Planning Commission denied in a 5-4 vote.

Despite voters expressly banning retail sales with the approval of the City Charter on 11/6/18 (13,679 votes), there remains a push by Council to have voters reconsider retail sale of marijuana/cannabis in the City of Carson for the Nov. 2020 election.

CSUDH 4-year grad rate is ~15%. @Steve_Glazer came to campus with @SteveBradford, @SenBobArchuleta and @AsmMuratsuchi where they explored a growing crisis facing students as they juggle classroom challenges w/hunger, mental health issues and homelessness.
