On 5/13/20 the Carson Planning Commission unanimously approved a plan to evict the 225 homeowners of Imperial Park with an average payout of ~$76,000.

The City Council reviewed the Planning Commission decision on 7/7/20, increasing that average payout to ~$89,000. Not enough!

Carson City Council has been extremely active in the Park Closure process at the state level. The most recent effort is the development of AB 2782 - including drafting this bill with City funds.

Evolve South Bay is a new apartment community in District 1 and GROUND ZERO of the housing affordability crisis in Carson.

While new housing options are welcomed; the cost of these rentals are downright shocking for current residents.

1BR/1BA for $2400/mo
3BR/2BA for $3500/mo.

These rates are simply too rich for current residents.

There is a word for this - GENTRIFICATION.

It is time for Inclusive Zoning Policy in Carson. Where developments like "Evolve" make sure to include the CURRENT RESIDENTS OF CARSON.

To build it, we need an entrepreneurial mindset in making the economic case to grocery chains along with a grassroots campaign to demonstrate what the local residents want.

Carson - District 1 deserves full-service grocery options. Demand more!

Walmart Neighborhood Market is the only full-service grocer in District 1. Many residents in our District travel miles, often outside the City limits, for groceries. Including the 1100 student beds on the CSUDH campus.

As a Carson Planning Commissioner, we approved a retail project at the corner of University and Central that includes a 14,000 square foot footprint for a grocery store. This was YEARS ago, and still nothing has been built.

There are over 50 miles of protected bike lanes along the LA River, with a connecting point at Del Amo just East of the 710 freeway. Small problem - bikers in Carson have to risk life and limb to get there.

Carson deserves protected bike lanes.

California State University Dominguez is in District 1.

A 2019 campuswide survey reported that 3 in 5 students are food insecure and 1 in 6 are housing insecure. Yet CSUDH builds a dorm w/o a dining hall?

Doesn't Carson and it's residents deserve better?
