The federal government has set a goal of 63% youth sports participation by 2030. Some states have already achieved that goal, but New York State is falling behind, with 53.3% of young people participating in sports.
At Project Play WNY, we're working to bridge that gap!
Inclusive Sports Opportunity: the Village of Youngstown Recreation Dept. will offer inclusive basketball lessons on Saturdays for youth of all abilities, ages 10+.
🏀Practices start Jan. 31.

2025 Impact: Project Play Swim funds swimming lessons and lifeguard training programs to help break down barriers preventing many kids from learning this lifelong sport. Last year more than 500 youths participated in swim programming through our partnerships with community orgs.
Our 2025 Impact: Last year, nine local organizations received Project Play WNY Winter Free Play grants to support Winter Free Play zones throughout the eight-county region. More than 1500 youth participated in Free Play zones in 2025–the inaugural year of this new grant series!
