"By investing in multiple micronutrient supplements and strengthening the systems that connect women to care throughout pregnancy, we can ensure that a simple answer like “vitamins” is a standard part of care for every woman, everywhere."

Menstruation is a monthly occurrence for 1.8 billion girls and women, yet millions across the world are denied the right to manage their monthly cycle in a dignified and healthy way without stigma. In Indonesia, Project HOPE in partnership with the RISE foundation has developed the HER WAY initiative, an innovative program to empower adolescent girls, young women & new mothers through education, mentorship and maternity care. #ICYMI today, the head of WHO said he is “deeply concerned about the scale and speed” of the #Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda.
The virus spread undetected for weeks; a stark reminder of why strengthening health systems before an outbreak hits is critical.
Family doctors treat the WHOLE person. 💙
In an increasingly digital world, compassionate, people-centered care is still at the heart of family medicine. These relationships are built upon years of trust, continuity of care, and really listening to the voices of individual patients and the communities they live in. Family doctors can consider the physical, mental and social wellbeing of their patients in a way that technology can never replace!
On #WorldFamilyDoctorDay, we celebrate the primary care teams who make medical systems empathetic and more navigable for patients around the world.

Just a few of the words that come to mind when we think about the mothers we have met in our lives and programs this year. They often go the extra mile to protect their families, and Project HOPE is going the extra mile to ensure women everywhere have access to quality healthcare for themselves and their children.
This #MothersDay, we encourage you to #DoOneThing to celebrate an amazing mother in your community!
In 10 minutes, over 100 airstrikes hit different parts of Lebanon. By the end of the day, hundreds were dead and over 1,000 injured. Many had believed that a ceasefire elsewhere might extend to Lebanon. In those 10 minutes, that belief collapsed. Project HOPE CEO @rotrbay was on the ground and shares what it’s really like for displaced communities living through tremendous uncertainty. https://t.co/dNc0iUpK25
Given the lack of health care access across #Gaza, some @projecthopeorg health clinics are operating at 700% capacity. Families are walking long distances to reach us in need of medicine. Our teams are prescribing individual pills/tablets to cover as many patients as possible.
I wrote about my recent trip to my home country of #Lebanon for @projecthopeorg. Across all communities, 1 message was consistent: support must reach everyone, both displaced & host communities. When it doesn’t, tensions rise. & tensions are already high https://t.co/oOvILy43nx
This #InternationalDayOfTheMidwife, let’s thank the inspiring midwives serving as the critical bridge of care for women around the world!

Malaria is both preventable & curable, but it unfortunately remains one of the leading causes of death among children in sub-Saharan African countries. Transmission is most common in warmer climates where mosquitos thrive, coupled with the fact that many communities have inadequate access to preventative measures. On #WorldMalariaDay and every day, we will continue to fill the gaps in care for communities who need it most.

Israel's bombing has killed thousands, displaced more than a million and rendered health care barely accessible for Lebanon's women and children. Project HOPE CEO @rtorbay shares more of the situation on the ground after a recent visit. Thank you @HuffPost. ⬇️

Last week I visited a @projecthopeorg mobile medical unit in Beirut that is supporting people sheltering in an abandoned hospital. It was in a terrible shape. 22 people were living together in one of the small rooms. This is the reality for many of the displaced in #Lebanon
