Love seeing development go up fast in my neighbourhood but can it not happen at 6:30 am? #yyj aren’t their noise rules about this? Who do I contact so I can get my beauty sleep hahaha
@RaynaRambling Wow 10am since it’s Saturday good to know!! Unfortunately reporting this won’t get me back the 3 hours of sleep.. Alas - extra coffee for me today
@ChillAsHellYYJ You can always list it for cheap on marketplace then donate the proceeds! I always donate a portion of my marketplace sales to the Victoria humane society or mustard seed
Alternatively Habitat for Humanity may take some furniture
@MS_athlete@S2Banham @ChillAsHellYYJ As someone with greenskeeper pals (who have appropriate WHMIS training to answer this question) - they have concluded that golf courses are reliant on rather potent chemicals for appearance.
Disclaimer - I’m not anti golf course and I do golf
@VoteYYJWilliams You know what would reduce the time of getting simple building permits? Universal zoning for secondary suites/townhomes in residential zoning… But I have a strong feeling you don’t like either of those things
Ways to save the environment/money
1 - buy a used sewing machine
2 - live the #carfree lifestyle and pick it up via bike
3 - repair/repurpose some old clothing
Probably the biggest thing I’ve ever biked home! Can’t wait to top it #bikelife
@ChillAsHellYYJ Also I think a huge thing is the price elasticity. Understanding international moves aren’t easy - but why don’t more Canadians move to Denmark or Japan given housing is “comparably cheaper”
slight increase in taxes might not move the needle if a ~280% price discrepancy doesn’t
@ChillAsHellYYJ That does seem backwards.. I think economists do a “reasonable” job of determining real home price indices considering all factors (taxes really just get “capitalized”) - note however some things don’t overly change with tax rate (weather is one)
@ChillAsHellYYJ I am going to lean towards the no category because a large portion homes are rentals. Then people end up raising the going rates on rents to recuperate losses. And higher rents can lead to higher home prices

@VoteYYJWilliams Even if we used the term “car lite” you’d still state how any policy that supports or encourages this lifestyle is based on “incorrect research” (I’m going to say it’s 100% confirmation bias but that’s just one guys take)
@FuckCarsReddit@EmmanuelSPV Perhaps this person has a cardiovascular condition where biking/walking may not be feasible- and this is a great alternative to them having to drive and use the bike infrastructure- I’m all for it
@VoteYYJWilliams Why do you group anyone who actually care about the climate as “climate heros”
Say what you will about “wow Victoria studies are out of date” but inflation since 2015 on construction costs have grossly outpaced the increases in tax revenue…
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist
