as someone who’s a fairly religious hindu on a personal level, I want my hinduism saved from this dehati hindutva crowds that folks like @Akshay_VAK @adisowraii @hamsanandi @shrikanth_krish etc represent.
hatred hindutva types show toward linguistic nationalism comes from deep insecurity. hindutva is profoundly dehati at its core. people like @Akshay_VAK offering it intellectual cover wouldn’t marry their daughter to someone shouting 'jai shri ram' with broken mobile phone.
maybe it’d help if hindutva’s intellectual footsoldiers looked inward - asked why the young and the elites want nothing to do with their project, why hindutva is met with quiet disdain, and why holi now feels like a festival of the uncultured

Tejasvi Surya, a nationalist, being thrashed left, right and centre, by the Hindi-speaking nationalists ever since he stood up for the linguistic rights of his people, is only the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lesson for Kannadiga nationalists: you guys are second-class.
Now that this flight with Pakistan is over, can we now ask when will #WingCommander Shiladitya Bose be arrested by the police? He literally attempted to kill a Kannada civilian within Karnataka’s land.
Don’t know this guy, but I’d bet @karatalaamalaka is an Indian-American, votes GOP while being treated like a third-rate citizen. Quoting the Gita, talking toughness - it’s all just incel state of mind, worn like a badge. The Hindutva thug cosplay completes the picture.
funny how even well-schooled slip into this cramped incel idea of strength - lifting weights, getting punched, scrubbing their own floors, as if hardship alone sharpens the soul. It’s the quiet signature of a culture that confuses sweat with wisdom.
Nothing related to Gandhi.
It is just that there is a subset of elites that is extraordinarily averse to physical effort, conflict, and risks.
They don’t lift weights, never been punched in the face, chores and physical labor all outsourced to “helps” and “watchmen,” chose to never have kids, etc.
Not saying all who fit this category are annoyingly “pacifist,” just that this set of attributes is likely to lead to emasculation.
It creates an illusion of comfort. A few think deeply about how their lifestyle choices are enabled, and are able to break the illusion.
Those who lift weights, grapple, face adversity, rely less on “helps,” tend to have a clearer view of reality.
@dharmadecentral@wordi25 I’m a secular American from Karnataka. Honestly, 90% of young Hindu Americans have a strong negative view of Hindutva. It even shows in hiring - I’ve never rejected anyone in interviews for it, but I know a friend who rejects Indian students if they seem pro Hindutva.
My colleagues here in Boston asked me why India has started this war, specifically targeting civilians. Looks like they’re getting their news from TikTok. Vishwaguru is really winning the info war, lol.
@wordi25@dharmadecentral Sorry, I meant that showing solidarity with India these days is getting equated with solidarity with Hindutva. I can speak about my own office - it has 20% Indians, but no one speaks up for India because they don’t want to be associated with the Hindutva crowd.
@wordi25@dharmadecentral My hunch is that it’s because Hindutva is incredibly low class/middle class coded. So no one in diaspora wants to associate themselves with that.
Glad to see bhakt types finding happiness in such creative ways - crying over BJP’s caste census, but now celebrating it as the excuse for burying Karnataka’s report. Truly heartwarming. @adisowraii
Karnataka govt has decided not to release the state govt census report as centre has already announced the caste census. It will submit this state report to the centre to take action on it. So this survey goes to the dustbin…Hari om
@Akshay_VAK@rue_du_four As a Brahmin, I don’t mind paying the price through additional reservation if it means fracturing the pan-Hindu vote, weakening the Union government, and empowering regional and linguistic parties. Karnataka needs it.
@dankchikidang That’s not how we want our societies to run, I’m afraid. If everyone is responsible, no one is. Clear domains are the cornerstone of our democracy.
