22 months since my last post! Update...!
Managed to get the first antipsychotic I started tapering from 10mg in February 2023 to 1.75mg and held due to life/family commitments. Second antipsychotic down to 150mg from 375mg. Still off Adhd meds until main AP is finished.
Currently at 1mg liquid. Last drop has been rough but focusing on the end game.
It's been a really long journey but my hb1ac blood sugars have drastically improved. Lost 10kg recently, finally sleeping after 10 years. Laughing again. Albeit scary feeling human! To be continued..
1/3 Nicotine v psychiatric medication!
Figured out partly why was feeling shaky / lightheaded etc.
Although I didn't change the amount or strength of nicotine I was vaping..
But by lowering my antipsychotic 75% the nicotine I was getting became twice as strong!
2/3 Had put symptoms all down to withdrawal but cut my nicotine strength by half & most of the physical symptoms resolved.
Not sure a doctor would have picked this up.
Very interesting, shows why I and others on psych meds smoke / vape so much to get the same effect as without.
Have had to go back up to 25% of original dose to see if my other psych meds go 'back in whack'...
Extreme nausea & muscle aches...
Magnesium really helps but take it at bed time.
Feeling discouraged!
It finally dawned on me today...
I've possibly been medicating my #trauma with #psychiatric medication for 20 years!
With this taper I have started to FEEL again and hopefully that will eventually lead to real healing...
No amount of denial or wishful thinking is gonna make our traumatized nervous system behave like a not-traumatized nervous system.
It's unreasonable to expect someone w/ compound fractures in multiple leg bones to keep running marathons like people who've never broken anything.
@DataCrunchK Tapering Abilify/Aripiprazole. Have done so over 7 months. (In hindsight should have been 14).
Withdrawal is tolerable the main problem is my Ritalin now is out of whack / having crashes after every dose. Thinking take the conservative option & go back up to 2.5mg. Cheers
Quandary! With my 'other' psych meds really out of whack now down to 0.75mg from 10mg of taper I can either go back up to 2.5mg & see if they go back in whack...
Or can continue taper and tinker the meds that are out of whack.
I can't decide what is the best thing to do! #Taper
