Bill Gunn's 'Ganja & Hess' (1973) is a vampire film like no other. Mysterious, moody and magical. Duane Jones and Marlene Clark provide strong performances as the film's eponymous characters while Sam Waymon supplies an eclectic but wholly effective soundtrack score

Lorenzo Fassina's 'Creepy Tales of Pizza and Gore' (2014) is a spirited if uneven portmanteau horror film. It's a low budget affair but its best story - which involves a haunted sound file being shared over the Internet - is absolutely terrifying

Revisited another old favourite by Pete Walker, 'Schizo' (1976). What a cast for a British slasher film: Lynne Frederick, Stephanie Beacham, Jack Watson, John Leyton & Queenie Watts. And the scene at the spiritualists' meeting is just astounding
