A human case of plague has been confirmed in Pueblo County. Take the precautions below:
- Eliminate places rodents can hide around the home
- Avoid contact with dead animals
- Do not let pets sleep with you
- Keep pets away from rodents and store food in rodent-proof containers

On April 5 a fire broke out at the EVRAZ and billowing plumes of dark smoke were visible throughout Pueblo. The EPA conducted air monitoring of the smoke plume in surrounding neighborhoods.

UPDATE: Air quality advisory has been lifted. Our partners at @EPARegion8 tested air quality in the areas near this weekend's fires. Results showed significant improvement in air quality throughout Saturday.
