BCCI सबूत है कि भारत कुछ अच्छा brand क्यों नहीं बना पाता

BCCI मुझे उस अमीर आदमी की तरह लगता है जिसके पास पैसा तो आ गया है, लेकिन class और aesthetic नहीं है। पूरी दुनिया में cricket match होते हैं, लेकिन भारत अकेला ऐसा देश होगा जहां match के sponsors को fit करने के लिए आधा दर्जन उल्टे-सीधे awards दिए जाते हैं। जहां 17 तरह के बेतुके awards देने के लिए TV पर आने को बेताब गुमनाम चेहरों की पूरी barat खड़ी होती है।

Sponsor को लगता है—मैंने पैसा दिया है तो मैं भी player के साथ photo खिंचवा लूं। जिस state में match हो रहा है, वहां के minister और cricket body स��� जुड़े लोग भी राजा बाबू बनकर खड़े होते हैं।

Match के बाद लोगों की dilchaspi सिर्फ captain और Man of the Match बने player को सुनने में होती है, लेकिन हमें सबसे लंबा six मारने वाले को भी award देना है, सबसे बढ़िया catch पकड़ने वाले को, सबसे ज़्यादा four लगाने वाले को। एक closing ceremony को हम सरकारी तमाशा बनाकर रख देते हैं।

मुझे अभी भी याद है, 2023 में जब Australian team World Cup जीती थी तो closing ceremony इतनी देर से शुरू की गई थी कि तब तक ज़्यादातर लोग stadium छोड़कर जा चुके थे। World champion बनी Australian team को लगभग खाली stadium में trophy लेनी पड़ी। आप सोचिए—आप World Champion बने हैं और जब तक आपको trophy दी गई, stadium खाली हो चुका था।

लेकिन जैसा मैंने कहा, BCCI वो धंधेबाज़ है जिसे सिर्फ पैसे से मतलब है। Class, grace, कायदा, ढंग—ये सारे शब्द उसके शब्दकोष से गायब हैं।

इसी तरह आप देखिए, आज का match Dharamshala में था। Dharamshala दुनिया के सबसे खूबसूरत grounds में से एक है। TV पर match देखने से ज़्यादा मज़ा आपको पीछे Dhauladhar range की चोटियों पर गिरी बर्फ देखने में आता है। पहाड़ों में होने के कारण Dharamshala भारत का इकलौता ground होगा जहां का weather भी इतना साफ होता है। आपको वैसी ही picture quality मिलती है जैसी Australia या England में match के दौरान मिलती है।

मेरा सवाल ये है कि इतने खूबसूरत background वाले stadium में match होता है और आप वो match भी शाम 7 बजे शुरू कर देते हैं। माना कि broadcaster को यही time suit करता है, लेकिन ये देखते हुए कि यहां dew इतनी पड़ती है—इस तरह के grounds एक खूबसूरत India की तस्वीर को दुनिया तक पहुंचाने का मौका भी तो हैं।

मेरी तरह हर cricket lover और Indian कितना ��र्मिंदा होता है जब November–December के सभी day-night matches में आपको screen पर सिर्फ smoke दिखता है। Dharamshala जैसे venue मौका होते हैं कि कम से कम cricketing world को आप India का ये पहलू भी दिखाएं। लेकिन नहीं। जब आपकी बुद्धि और सोच सिर्फ और सिर्फ पैसा समझती हो, तो ये सब बातें आपके दिमाग में दूर-दूर तक नहीं आतीं।

कहना नहीं चाहिए, लेकिन BCCI ही नहीं—दरअसल India में ज़्यादातर business सिर्फ पैसा बनाने की सोच से ही किए जाते हैं। पैसे से पहले कैसे एक brand बनाना ह��, customer experience को कैसे center में रखना है, product से जुड़े aesthetics का कैसे ख्याल रखना है—ये कभी हमारी सोच में नहीं आता। इसीलिए शायद हम ऐसा कुछ बना भी नहीं पाते जिसकी दुनिया में कोई चर्चा हो।
कड़वा है, मगर सच यही है। #IndianCricket #bcci #indiavssa
