@newme2be @badtakesbad @koolkaryn HIPAA covers MEDICA PROVIDERS/INSURANCE COMPANIES. If someone or their guardian gives that information to someone who is not 1 of those (which a school isn't), that entity is not covered by HIPAA. The school may be covered by other privacy laws/regulations, but they're not HIPAA.

@badtakesbad @az4me2023 @koolkaryn Exactly. HIPAA covers medical providers/insurance/etc. It doesn't cover patients or guardians releasing their own information.

The questions are still overly invasive, they're just not covered by HIPAA.

The amount of panic and shame surrounding the AIDS epidemic & those yelling that the gays "deserved" it isn't forgotten lightly. I'm not surprised if LGBTQ people of my gen or older are hesitant to identify themselves to a random poller.

@SieglanHall @gayblackvet I'd say the problem is that they do think they're everyone else's keeper and are trying to make sure everyone else lives by their rules. Maybe they should concentrate on themselves and let others live their lives, even if it's in a way they disapprove.
