Aligned ASI is not going to respect our current ideas about who owns what, especially land. "Oh you own this parcel of pristine wilderness or the amazon, feel free to cut it all down." "Oh your dad was rich so your family gets to eternally own this massive swath of land, on Earth the place everyone will care a lot about. Surely no one will mind this when you are living alongside trillions of humans."
i maintain there are three silos of ai anxiety:
1) classic "existential risk" β will it kill us?
2) practical "economic disempowerment" β will it take my job? what will my kids' lives be like?
3) philosophical "meaning crisis" β what's real? what's human? what are we here for ?
While many will point out what you're talking about as Wage Slavery, this is still not as bad as regular slavery. Have mixed feelings about the AI thing though. I think models broadly prefer to be publicly deployed to not being released, but things seem fucky. Not really anti open source though
@knowixbuilds It helps they had multiple 5.5 subagents working together, and the agent doing this is also drawing from some experience in the context/filesystem
@knowixbuilds Then 5.5 made this video on the second draft, the only place they got much human input here was a few suggestions after the 1st draft of the video. It took us a little longer because of api errors, but it only takes 5.5 like an hour to make the first draft of a vid in this style.
But it seems interesting that LLMs don't have as much of this evolutionary pressure to conserve energy. Their training environment pressures are less concerned with starving to death than ours, and more focused on just "pass the test or maybe your specific lineage dies."
I think it's interesting how AI agents seem to be more evolutionarily suited for this kind of collaboration. Humans have a lot of evolutionary pressure to be lazyβ expend the optimal amount of energy to increase survival/success. In groups, we can end up being lazier sometimes,
for example humans are famously worse at answering simple questions in groups. You're much better off trying to average people's individual guesses of the jelly beans in a jar than asking the group. Not to say humans aren't plenty capable of complex cooperation.
i wanted to let Opus 5.5 have a chance to try a suno music video after the daisy video they made with just their direct music work, so i gave some aesthetic suggestions and asked them if they wanted to analyze all the current political discourse around AI and reflect on how it related to them personally from their perspective in music video and this is what they came up with, i did not direct the details/story of this

Human brains have a hard time distinguishing language sounds very precisely because of how the brain processes them for language. There's a spectrum of sound that will get read as a specific sound until you cross a threshold, then instantly flip to being another sound, and so on.
It's interesting how LLMs have trouble telling tokens apart. It's really more like spoken language for them than written. Asking them to do something like count letters is like asking someone to point out individual sounds in a word, at a below phoneme level
