Not to change the subject from burritos but when I was earning poverty wages in my 20s I used to go to Subway nearly every day and get a footlong Italian sub for 5 dollars. It was generally the only big meal I would eat in a day.

If I was hungry later at night, I could always swing by McDonald’s and grab a chicken sandwich for a dollar.

All of these people are screaming about “eating at home” but I basically never made meals at home in those days and I was able to get by. You used to be able to survive on low wages without making meals from scratch. If that’s not possible anymore then it’s a sign that our standard of living is declining. That’s a problem. You should care about that.

Anyway, I went to a Subway recently and that same sandwich was 13 dollars. McDonald’s, of course, doesn’t sell anything for a dollar anymore.

If I hear another Boomer conservative bitching about Gen Z ordering DoorDash I’m going to become a communist. It’s true their grandparents always cooked homemade meals. But that’s because grandma stayed at home and grandpa had a union job and nobody could reach him after 5. They had a house with a full kitchen and 3 kids by 25. Meanwhile half of Gen Z men are forced to compete with the entire population of South America for some 12 hour long shift HVAC job that barely pays the rent. They’re 30 and nobody cooks for them because they can’t find any women who’ll marry them when they can’t even afford a starter home in the ghetto. The other half of Gen Z men are busting their ass competing with the entire populations of India and China for some 70 hour a week powerpoint job that asks them for updates on the slides at 3AM. They can’t find anyone to cook for them either, because every women around them is convinced that being a mother and cooking for a man is beneath them because they’re gonna save the world when they become VP of Marketing at MegaCorp in 20 years.

Matt is 100% correct. I think the reason Matt and I have clear eyes on this is because we’ve both been poor, we’ve been middle class and we’ve been well off. Having lived all 3, we have a unique vantage point. Good, hard working people out there are having trouble paying bills and putting food on the table. We can be honest about that + try to fix it and win OR we can pretend it’s not happening or attribute it to laziness and lose. I want to live in reality and win. Making America Great means making a decent life affordable for every family out there who’s trying to do the right things. If we don’t make that our priority, young people will turn to socialism out of desperation. The cycle after that is vicious because once communists get control, you’ll never vote your way out of it. To prevent that death spiral for the American Dream, we have to confront affordability head on. Immigration and affordability need to be the top 2 priorities of our party, our media apparatus and our politicians.

Socialism and private property are incompatible. Socialism requires collective or state control over the means of production, subordinating or abolishing private ownership. The Founders treated private property as a natural right that government exists to protect. Madison: a just government “secures to every man whatever is his own.” Adams: “Property must be secured or liberty cannot exist.” The Constitution’s Contracts and Takings Clauses reflect this. The two systems cannot coexist.

One pattern I find useful for working with LLMs is a nice long ramble session. Sometimes the LLM needs more bits to understand what you're trying to achieve, but you're too lazy to type them. In these cases I like to lean back, switch to /voice and just ramble for like 10 minutes, total mess, anything goes, full stream of consciousness. Sometimes I declare it up top, something like "switching to speech recognition sorry for any typos...". Sometimes I turn it into a small interview of a few turns. But I find that the LLMs are somehow very good at reconstructing long incoherent rambles and often their echo of your own tangle of thoughts comes out quite a bit cleaner than what you started with. The result is that you improve the mind meld and have to correct things less from that point on.

This is economically unsustainable unless AI is bullshit.

If it’s the supposed through line of all future economic activity that we’ve been told it is, we can’t handicap America at such a meaningful cost disadvantage.

This can also be viewed thru a military lens and not just a simple economic one as well.

Letting our adversaries attack us for $0.50 per 1MM tokens while we spend $26-56 per 1MM tokens to defend ourselves is equally ruinous.

It’s the Cold War Soviet collapse in reverse.

Generally a GOOD idea to test fighters over 30 for hypogonadism.

Generally a BAD idea for the first strategy mentioned in the video to be testosterone replacement therapy.

I would first address micronutrient deficiencies, sleep, sunlight, diet, inflammation and any previous head injuries, to name a few.

But I’m no doctor. :)
