@M1koyanGur3vich @planefag this was because the Soviets tuned their engines for low alt and the yak 3 had a very low power to weight ratio. that did not mean that every airplane was delivered to the field with a working gun site or even gauges at all or that the wings didn't randomly fall off.

@M1koyanGur3vich @planefag Germany meanwhile, we're tuning their engines for high altitude because the primary threat was strategic bombers. also, the quality of their pilot training was dropping drastically. a rate fight with a yak 3 would probably get a 109 pilot killed. a good pilot in a 109 wouldnt.
