ICE shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in our community.
His family deserves answers.
That is why I sent a letter to DHS and ICE demanding a real independent investigation, all video footage, and a full accounting of what happened.
ICE cannot investigate itself.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was a husband, father, and small business owner who called Houston home for the past 35 years. As he drove to work earlier this week, an ICE agent in an unmarked van shot and killed him.
His family deserves justice–beginning with a thorough, independent investigation–and Lorenzo deserves to be remembered not as a victim, but as a man who loved his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them.
This headline *should* read: Houstonian, father of three who has lived and worked here for over three decades was shot and killed by ICE.
The dehumanization of our immigrant community must stop.
🚨🚨 Our office just scored a major national win — the Secretary of State’s Office earned the “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award”, from the National Procurement Institute, marking a FIRST in Illinois history. A big moment for transparency, innovation, and smarter government. This is exactly how we rebuild trust in government - by showing competency, ethics & efficiency. I could not be more proud of our Procurement team and everyone at the Secretary of State’s office. A great day for Illinois and a great day for those of us who believe in good government!
What a mess.
Graham Platner has until July 13 to drop out. Then party officials will need to pick a new nominee by July 25th.
The race is still winnable—if Platner drops out right now. But either way, his assholery just made taking back the Senate much harder.
Every day I’m hearing from people who are getting involved politically for the first time in their life, and I love it. That is exactly what we need right now.

I saw firsthand the strength and courage it took for Texas Democrats to stand up again and again to defend our right to vote.
Now, that responsibility belongs to all of us — to protect our democracy from those who seek to control it.
This is so damn disrespectful. Obama was a US Senator, a state Senator and a community leader and advocate for years before becoming POTUS. A Harvard educated lawyer, first Black president of the Harvard Law Review. Spencer Pratt was a reality tv boyfriend 2 decades ago. Stop it
ZOHRAN: “TBH, I don’t think too much about how Republicans portray me. The power of an ideology is judged in the worth of its delivery— to be told a city-run grocery store is implausible but $500 MILLION/day to kill ppl in Iran & Lebanon is necessary speaks to a broken politics.”
