TROPICS: The Atlantic basin remains quiet and tropical storm formation is not expected for at least the next seven days.

However, in the Pacific rapidly intensifying Bavi is expected to become a super typhoon, and is headed in the direction of the Mariana Islands. The core of the system is projected to cross the island chain during the late night hours of Sunday into Monday morning; winds could exceed 150 mph.

Current forecast guidance tracks the center passing near or between Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. However, even a minor northward or southward shift over the next couple of days could significantly alter which specific islands experience the most direct impacts, including Guam.
