@AmyCoulston3 Well said Amy! I feel these are fundamental values we should have and recognise before entering the occupational therapy profession #OENV18
Unlike other courses, 2312AHS has been very eye opening about the broader societal contexts that surround occupational justice! I will forever be grateful for how this course has shaped my occupational lens for the better #OENV18
@sOTlearner I couldn't agree more Maddy, whilst I was so nervous at first, I am so grateful for the experience. I never knew I could learn so much by simply beginning to understand a person and how they live they life #OENV18
@AimeeSullivan06 It is so true Aimee! Before even entering into a therapeutic relationship I think it is important to understand the different person factors we could have compared to our client and how these ultimately could affect the outcome of therapy #OENV18
@HarrietCarey10 What an insightful study! It really does show that whilst we may think we are successfully creating a power-sharing relationship, some clients may not feel the same. For me, this just further proves the importance of critically reflecting throughout the whole OT process #OENV18
What an impactful video! Whilst it does not explicitly link to therapeutic relationships, I think it has a powerful message in regard to the invisible privileges people have and how we must not judge a client before getting to know them #OENV18

@AimeeSullivan06 I couldn't agree more Aimee, I was in shock the whole time when she was explaining the difficult experiences she had faced when working with previous OTs. I don't know about you but her talk definitely solidified the importance of client-centred practice #OENV18#powersharing
'I'm not handicapped by my disability but rather I'm handicapped by the society I live in'. Too often we treat people differently based on their disability. But I wonder if this is the result of what is considered the norm in society. Please watch: #OENV18

@AimeeSullivan06 Such good points Aimee, it really does come back to the equality Vs. equity debate and how we don't all have the same 'starting points' in life #OENV18
@EllieFord08@Strong_Laura99 It is so true, so often I take opportunities for granted and it is not until I take a step back that I realise how many inequalities actually exist in our world #OENV18
If you don't have to think about it, it's a privilege... Often privileges are invisible until it is put into relative perspective. Over the past few months I have tried to be more aware of the privileges I have and how this shapes the occupational opportunities I have #OENV18
@paytonbree13 This is such a wonderful step in the right direction! It is such a important thing for our younger generations to witness and involve people with disabilities in their lives. Hopefully by taking more steps like these, the stigmas around disability will soon be normalised #OENV18
@OTme2018 1st Yes I did however I couldn't find the overall winner. All I know is that each finalist, the Claymore project included did receive $5000 to support their initiative. 2nd I couldn't agree more, the broader societal contexts really did shape them to be where they are now #OENV18
Residents of Claymore face social injustices everyday. This article explains how the only thing they can rely on is the support of their people. Proving further how governments at the macro level have managed to disappoint them yet again #OENV18

@HarrietCarey10 Even just the title of the article is a staggering statistic. It really does make you wonder about the more macro forces contributing to these injustices #OENV18
@DylanvanderMer7 This sparked a thought for me... whilst 15% of people have disabilities, it is heart-breaking to known how oppressed they are as a minority. 15% yet how much representation do they actually have? I highly doubt 15% our mainstream media and politicians are disabled #OENV18
@Charlee_Taylor7 I couldn't agree more! Just because these dominant societal attitudes exist, doesn't mean we should conform and view or treat someone with a disability differently. However stories like yours prove that unfortunately the majority of the time we do conform #OENV18
Without realising, people are contributing to the attitudes & beliefs created by those in power. This article highlights the societal beliefs that exist for people with disabilities. So I ask, do you view a person with a disability differently? #OENV18 https://t.co/zReaYjFFk4
@lirvine_brown@BillWongOT@AimeeSullivan06 That's exactly right! I wish it was that simple to answer these questions, but I think the frustrating reality is they will always remain unknown. On the bright side, it is through conversations like these hopefully people become more aware of how society has shaped us #OENV18
When someone says, 'Tell me a bit about yourself', what do you immediately think? For many it is natural to say their job or career. But is that due to our upbringing telling us that paid work is the thing that defines us. If so, I wonder if that is the case for everyone #OENV18
