Politics is irrelevant. Central banking and monetary policy viewed through an Austrian School of Economics lens will tell you the direction of the world and it's usually contrary to what the mainstream news will have you believe.
Understand the bond market, money supply, velocity and what causes interest rates move in both directions and most importantly use the gold ounce to measure value when analyzing any asset class not its derivative; the dollar.
My aunt and uncle own a house worth almost $800,000.
They paid off the mortgage years ago.
Last month, my aunt quietly asked whether they could move into our guest room.
I honestly thought she was joking.
They've lived in that house for 34 years.
Four bedrooms. A beautiful backyard. A neighborhood where everyone knows them.
My uncle retired seven years ago, and my aunt followed three years later.
As far as I knew, they were doing fine.
So I asked her what was going on.
She said something I wasn't expecting.
"We're running out of money."
I reminded her that they owned an $800,000 house with no mortgage.
She looked at me and said,
"That's exactly what everyone keeps telling us."
Then she started explaining.
Their property taxes had climbed to almost $13,000 a year.
Homeowners insurance was another $4,300.
Their heating and electricity bills had become ridiculous.
The roof needed replacing.
And the house seemed to develop a new problem every few months.
Last winter, their furnace stopped working.
Before that, they'd spent thousands repairing a plumbing issue.
Their combined retirement income was around $4,200 a month after deductions.
That was supposed to cover food, utilities, medical expenses, transportation, and everything else.
They weren't taking vacations.
They weren't buying expensive things.
My aunt said she'd stopped replacing clothes unless they were completely worn out.
My uncle had started doing small repairs himself because hiring someone was becoming too expensive.
I asked why they hadn't considered selling.
She gave me a look.
"Do you know how long we've lived there?"
I said I understood, but it was a lot of money sitting in one property.
She shook her head.
"Your uncle planted every tree in that backyard. Our children grew up there. We buried our dog under the big oak tree."
Then she went quiet.
A few minutes later, she opened her phone and showed me their checking account.
There was $1,126 left.
Their next property tax installment was due in three weeks.
It was more than three times that amount.
I asked how they planned to pay it.
She said they'd probably have to take money from what remained of their savings.
Then she grabbed my hand.
"Please don't tell your uncle I asked about your guest room."
I asked why.
Her eyes filled with tears.
"Because he still thinks we're doing okay."
But that wasn't the whole truth.
I found that out when I visited them the following Sunday...
Ok, this is crazy! Check out Susan Dell's left eye.
Her pupil literally blinks, while her eye is wide open!
There are some animals that can do this. I think Nocturnal Geckos. Cats can do this also, but they do not have round pupils.
