🚨INCIDENT RESPONSE UPDATE🚨

Hit-and-Run - Main Street/Jewel Avenue; Tonight, 8:30 PM

QUEENS SHMIRA VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION:

Following a multi-vehicle collision on Main Street, our volunteers immediately responded to secure the scene and assist law enforcement.

Incident:
A white BMW SUV struck multiple parked vehicles near Jewel Avenue. The driver fled the scene on foot, stumbling down Main Street toward Vleigh Place before disappearing into nearby apartment complexes.

Our Response:
Our volunteers were dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes to secure the area and maintain traffic safety. They obtained CCTV footage to assist @NYPD107Pct officers who canvased the neighborhood in search of the suspect. A community member followed the individual & provided real-time updates to law enforcement. Our team maintained scene safety throughout the incident until @FDNY arrived, assessed the damaged vehicle, & cleared it for removal.

The suspect remains at large. #NYPD detectives will be investigating.

In February 2024, I and several NY elected officials visited Israel as part of a solidarity mission, where we saw firsthand the atrocities of October 7. One of the sites we went to was kibbutz Kfar Aza, where 2 of the 3 hostages released today (Doran and Emily) were kidnapped from. I will never forget the utter decimation I saw in their village, and the joy at having them home is an understatement. 🇮🇱
