How do so many people on SF/Bay Area have such nice bikes? Every day, I see fleets of Cervelo, Pinarello, Willier, Canyon. All of these are north of 8k USD! Is there something I don’t know about?
A month ago I got a letter from FTB of California saying I didn't pay taxes from a few years ago. So I paid it.
Today I get a refund check for the same amount. WTF?!

New matchmaking client, 35, 6', splits time between LA and NYC. He’s from a wealthy family, and says most of the women he’s dated have similar backgrounds.
We’re discussing his relationship history, and he says he broke up with his last girlfriend, NYC-based, due to “entitlement issues.”
I ask him to tell me more.
He says he expects to pay for most bills, but his ex never offered to pay for anything.
Not ice cream after dinner, not coffee, not even once.
The straw that broke the camel’s back?
He’s visiting her in NYC, they’re walking around SoHo, and she spots a beautiful jacket in a store window.
He likes the jacket too, so they go inside the store to check it out.
Turns out the jacket is unisex.
She’s a small, he’s a medium, so he says, why don’t we get a medium and share it?
The medium is oversized on her, but she says she likes it, so he buys the jacket, and she keeps it with her in NYC when he returns to LA.
Fast forward two weeks, and he’s back in NYC to see her again.
They’re at her apartment getting ready to go out to dinner, and he decides he’ll wear the jacket.
He puts it on, and it doesn’t fit anymore.
He mentions this to her, and she says:
“Oh, the medium was too big on me, so I exchanged it for a small” 💀
Saturday will be one of the hottest days of the year for the entire Bay Area. Downtown San Francisco is forecast to reach 94°F in the afternoon, while Ocean Beach, just over 6 miles to the west, is expected to be in the low 60s.
The Outer Sunset and Outer Richmond could briefly climb into the 80s around noon before the sea breeze kicks in during the afternoon.
Welcome to Indian Summer.
palo alto makes me feel like i’m living in a simulation. the weather is always perfect, everyone looks like a sims character, there’s no trash anywhere, even the color palette of the streets looks curated. can someone explain what the fuck is going on here?
