invest in people

[Liveblocks @liveblocks]

When an AI agent edits your document, it's a collaborator. It should behave like one.

@trywindmill built their performance platform agent-first, so AI edits appear live in the same documents people use.

Liveblocks powers their realtime collaboration.

Employee satisfaction with performance reviews at Stepful went up 18% in one cycle.

In their previous cycle, calibration ran on Google Docs. Cara Fullerton, their Director of People Operations, built the matrices by hand, and leaders switched between reviews, matrices and leveling guides.

This cycle ran on Windmill. Everyone sat on a 9-box grid with axes the team chose, like performance and retention risk, and ratings changed in place as leaders moved people around.

This morning, we hosted a hands-on AI building lab for NYC HR leaders with @JoinTroopHR at @PrimaryVC's office.

Attendees broke into grouops and built AI workflows live, with Windmill engineers by their side.

From performance reviews to comp analysis and 1:1 prep, teams built and shared automations they created.

A huge thank you to Tracy Avin and the TroopHR community for a wonderful morning. More to come!

Our founder and managing partner, @alexavontobel, sat down with @WallStManeet at the @Forbes Future of Work Summit to talk investing in the future of work and building a human economy in the age of AI.

It’s something we’ve thought about for a long time at @InspiredCap, and it’s a big reason we invested in @trywindmill, an AI company that bets on humans. They’re rethinking performance reviews so companies can see and grow talent they already have!

Thank you @Forbes and @WallStManeet for having us, and was so fun meeting @RealColinRocker backstage!

@chenneking what's your go-to order? 👀

Meet Dylan Scott, our newest software engineer.

Turns out his talents extend far beyond code: he’s also an expert in NYC slop bowls.

His definitive rankings below. Naya, naturally, is S-tier.

Did he get them right?

@andruyeung that looks more like a bucket to me

We launched a lot in September:

1. Groups: manual, smart (set a rule once and it auto-updates), synced from Slack & Google, and SCIM

2. Engagement surveys: employees answer wherever they are - slack, a web form, or Claude via MCP

3. A new engine for Windy: new harness, new model, better reasoning. Faster, and it reads a lot more.

4. Talk to Windy: live voice transcription in the platform

5. Autodraft: voice and text notes while you write a review, so you can get a high-quality draft back in minutes

Plus pdf exports (and some bloopers). More to come in October.

pretty proud of how we built "Text Insights" on pulse surveys.

analyzing open ended text response questions is tricky. most platforms shove all the responses into an LLM and get a summary. in practice this isn't that useful and you can't slice and dice data easily.

instead we built a custom pipeline using jev (@typesafeai) that buckets and classifies every response. this allows you to filter and group responses in real time and you can easily go deeper with Windy whenever you want.

My hot tech career tip of Q3 2026 is that your end of year performance review is going to get drafted by AI. The time to start putting your accomplishments in a shared doc / folder / slack thread with your manager is this afternoon.

the biggest upgrade to windmill pulse since we launched: full engagement surveys.

structured questions, four ways to take the same survey, and new insights (powered by jev @typesafeai).

automate your weekly check-in all the way to a full annual engagement survey and everything in between.
