An 80-year-old woman, who was raped by neighbour Salman, in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras, has succumbed after battling for life for 35 days. She was found unconscious in her home after the assault and had suffered severe injuries.

The accused was arrested soon after the incident. With the victim's death, police are awaiting the post-mortem report before initiating further legal action.
