White smoke is beginning to billow from Western Kenya.

During a press briefing today, following a strategy meeting held at the home of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Luhya leaders allied to Linda Mwananchi announced a political roadmap for Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election.

As part of that roadmap, they announced that a new political party will soon be unveiled to carry the movement’s vision.

Governor Natembeya announced that the roadmap will begin with a major Linda Mwananchi rally in Trans Nzoia on 25th July, followed by the mother of all rallies in Bungoma County on 26th July, where Edwin Sifuna will be crowned the Luhya leader before being released to focus on his national campaign.

Further, Natembeya said he will thereafter lead political engagements across all 38 constituencies in Western Kenya in his capacity as the coordinator of the movement’s political activities in Sifuna’s Mulembe backyard.

The leaders present also declared Sifuna as their 2027 presidential candidate.

The employer was served and she never responded to court summons nor appeared before the court.

The security guard served her via WhatsApp and he presented the WhatsApp message as his evidence.

The court concluded that the WhatsApp grey ticks were a proof that she saw the court documents and deliberately decided not to respond nor defend the suit.

The pair of grey ticks on WhatsApp was used as evidence in the Employment and Labour Relations Court,

And she was asked to pay the former security guard KSh992,146.60 in compensation after the court found his dismissal unlawful and unfair.

I see people mad at Ruto (and rightfully so) for wanting “better” for his children. But we also need to ask ourselves some uncomfortable questions..

When he campaigned under the “hustler” narrative, did we ever stop to ask what hustling actually looked like for him? His children were already in elite schools. This isn’t overnight success. There was never anything “hustler like” about him. The whole “bottom-up” narrative was a big joke.

The same thing happened a few years earlier when many people voted for Uhuru simply because he is the son of the so called “Father of the Nation.” Many ignored the warning signs, bought into the narrative, and Kenya is still paying the price for that decision today.

As much as we want to direct our anger at politicians after every election, we also have to accept a difficult truth, voters carry a huge responsibility for the choices this country ends up with.

Hopefully, in 2027, we choose better. Because unless we do, nothing will change. Their children will continue going to school in the West while they destroy the education system at home.

They will continue flying abroad for treatment while our healthcare system continues to collapse. They will continue using helicopters while building substandard roads for the very people who elected them.

They will continue hiring private chefs while many Kenyan families struggle to put food on the table. The reality is simple: they will always protect their own. The question is, when will we start protecting ours?
