Two years of political misjudgements, errors and constant fights with his own MPs
Starmer failed to deliver despite his huge majority
He had no purpose, he hated politics and now leaves Number 10 with a lot of his own MPs thinking they've wasted 2 years
Me for @zeteouk:
It's harder to understand why anyone can't figure out the unpopularity of a man who lied to become party leader, told his party members to get lost, governed by u-turn, chased racist voters with racist policies and has the charisma of a bus timetable...
“What she did…was to make me think why capitalism is not only efficient and practical, but also moral” - Alan Greenspan, speaking about his guru Ayn Rand in 1974.
It's worth understanding the role that this partnership played in unleashing the savageries of the modern market.
When Greenspan was still working in the corporate sector, Rand’s ideas about the “utopia of greed” infused him with a powerful sense of mission: apparently, making money wasn’t just good for him - it was good for society as a whole.
As for those who got trampled? Rand helped with that too: “Parasites who persistently avoid either purpose or reason perish as they should,” Greenspan wrote.
This mindset served him well as Fed Chair, where he supported shock therapy in Russia (72 million impoverished) and in East Asia after the 1997 economic crisis (24 million pushed into unemployment). Not to mention attacks on welfare and trade unions in the U.S....
JD Vance, with his tight concentric circles of "love," is just the latest manifestation of this worldview.
In a series of attacks that are beginning to feel coordinated the BBC's Jeremy Bowen has been accused of prejudice against Israel. In this article for British Journalism Review Irfan Chowdhury and I investigate whether these accusations make sense:

This is the big question for Burnham. He will not unite his party or the country if he continues Starmer’s support for and participation in Israel’s crimes
My favourite Keir Starmer apologists on here are the ones crying about the right-wing press.
Let's remember this:
1) Starmer hasn't faced a fraction of the abuse and cruelty that Jeremy Corbyn or even Ed Miliband faced,
2) Starmer commonly wrote op-eds in those fucking papers.
Keir Starmer has resigned as Britain’s prime minister with a shameful litany of lies and brazen con jobs to his credit.
The biggest con of all was Starmer’s claim to be a man who stood up for human rights. https://t.co/Yq8vZeySvS
As Keir Starmer leaves office spouting lies, and has a dig at a man who more integrity in his little finger than Starmer does in his entire body, I want to retweet this from @dodgson_sally spot on
Cathy Newman didn’t dispute any of the claims he made about the cost of living, wages, or billionaire wealth.
She only challenged him on whether or not Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
Absolutely INSANE.
Starmer’s legacy is genocide. He provided military and intelligence support to Israel as it perpetrated the crime of crimes against the Palestinian people. That is how he will be remembered.
Time will tell, but I suspect in, say 30 years, Starmer will be most remembered for being the shadow Brexit secretary whose ludicrous position of stopping Brexit was terrible for Britain but fabulous for his career.
He was central in Britain getting the hardest possible Brexit.
