"If you were a car, what kind of car would you be?"

Someone asked me that recently. After thinking about it for a couple of seconds, I said:

'A self driving one.'

After the meeting, I thought more about my answer and realized there's a feeling behind it that's ingrained in every fiber of my body.

I don't want another person to have the power to steer my life.
I want autonomy.

And this is something I've valued a lot ever since I was a kid.

I even told my mom once to 'let me make my own mistakes in life' when I was a teenager.

She thought about that for a while before deciding I was right. And she remembers that conversation till this day.

Autonomy over your own life can be scary and feel heavy, which is why people sometimes hand it over to others.

And why others try to protect us by taking over from us, even if we don't ask them to.

But it is also freedom. The freedom to live on your own terms, with all the possibilities that are out there.

The freedom to do what makes you happy in this short timeframe of being alive.

So I guess what I'm trying to say on this random Saturday is:
Grab your wheel this weekend, and drive yourself to where you wanna go.

I get so many emails from content creators who don't align with my brand🙄

Word of advice:
If almost all your posts are half naked pictures & videos while traveling through countries where you should be dressing more modestly, don't even bother sending me an email.

In dit geval, nee, de nieuwe wetgeving pakt niet alleen de rijken.

Ik ben een niet-rijk persoon onder jouw definitie. Maar ik heb wel wat aandelen en crypto omdat ik graag mijn vermogen wil opbouwen. Mijn probleem is straks dat ik gezien de volatiliteit van crypto misschien duizenden euro's aanwasbelasting moet betalen op niet gerealiseerde 'winst', dat ik dat geld niet gewoon heb liggen (want geen gerealiseerde echte winsten en ook niet rijk) en dat vooral mijn crypto erna keihard in waarde zouden kunnen dalen.

Ik snap dat je snel aan rijken denkt, maar dit treft echt ook kleine beleggers en mensen met een beetje crypto. Zoals ik.

Belasting op gerealiseerde winsten is niet fijn, maar acceptabel. Belasting op ongerealiseerde 'winsten' is ridicuul en vergroot alleen maar de kloof tussen arm/middenklasse en rijk.

Het is toch echt niet mijn onderbuik die zegt dat wanneer mijn beetje (!) crypto ineens eind van het jaar stijgt, ik de belasting daarop helemaal niet zou kunnen betalen. Die conclusie trok ik zelf na een simpele rekensom, daar heb ik echt geen Elon of wie dan ook voor nodig.

Ik stel voor dat deze hoogleraar even met mensen gaat praten die dit raakt, dan leggen we het even uit.
