SEX.
That's what corn flakes were invented to stop.
Not hunger.
Not malnutrition.
SEXUAL DESIRE.
John Harvey Kellogg was a physician, a Seventh-day Adventist, and a man absolutely terrified of human sexuality.
He was also anti-marriage. Performed surgeries to prevent pleasure. And he never consummated his own marriage.
He spent his entire life at war with the human body. He believed "self-pollution" caused:
→ Cancer
→ Heart disease
→ Insanity
→ Death
His solution?
A bland, flavourless grain cereal so boring it would suppress carnal urges entirely. He served it to patients at his Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan.
No sugar. No salt. No flavour. By design.
The theory was simple:
Stimulating food = stimulating thoughts.
Boring food = a quiet, obedient body.
He also recommended:
→ Yoghurt enemas
→ Mechanical devices to prevent boys from touching themselves at night
→ Carbolic acid applied to girls
This man is why 4 million+ people ate corn flakes this morning.
His brother Will saw the business potential, added sugar against John's furious objections, and built a billion-dollar empire. John never forgave him.
The cereal designed to kill desire became the world's most popular breakfast.
Kellogg's sanitarium is now a hotel.
You can book a room. 🥣
Your morning bowl of cereal is the legacy of one man's war against desire. 🥣
Chronic dehydration is one of the top causes of kidney damage.
If you are reading this post, drink a glass of water. You can add another glass of water if you want.
Protect your kidneys.
IBitter herbs are good for the body, they remind us that life is not always sweet
That life is not a bed of roses
That both sweetness and bitterness are essential parts of life
Bitter herbs help to tone the vital organs of the body, especially the liver and kidney.
