How to Achieve German A1–B2 in 8 Months 🇩🇪
Is it possible?
Yes,
but only if you’re ready to treat learning German like a part-time job.
Here’s the roadmap I would recommend. 🧵👇
Month 1: Master A1
Your goal is to build a strong foundation.
Every day:
• 2–3 hours of study
• Learn 20–30 new words
• Master pronunciation
• Learn greetings, numbers, time, shopping, family and daily conversations
• Complete one grammar topic every 2–3 days
Don’t rush grammar. Build it properly.
Month 2: Finish A2
Increase your study time to 3–4 hours daily.
Focus on:
• Past tense (Perfekt)
• Modal verbs
• Sentence structure
• Listening practice
• Short conversations
• Writing simple paragraphs
By the end of Month 2, you should comfortably handle everyday situations in German.
Months 3–4: Reach B1
This is where many people quit.
Don’t.
Study:
• 4 hours daily
• Read German news
• Watch German YouTube videos
• Listen to German podcasts
• Speak with language partners every day
Start thinking in German instead of translating from English.
Months 5–6: Build B2 Skills
B2 is about expressing ideas confidently.
Practice:
• Debates
• Opinion essays
• Formal emails
• Complex grammar
• Listening to native speakers at normal speed
• Reading newspapers and articles
Speak every single day.
Even if you make mistakes.
Month 7: Exam Preparation
Stop learning new grammar.
Instead:
• Solve past Goethe exams
• Time yourself
• Practice writing
• Improve speaking fluency
• Focus on your weak areas
Treat every practice paper like the real exam.
Month 8: Final Revision & Exam
Your focus should be:
✅ Vocabulary revision
✅ Speaking confidence
✅ Listening practice
✅ Mock exams
✅ Exam strategy
Don’t cram.
Refine what you’ve already learned.
Daily Routine (Non-Negotiable)
Morning:
• 30 minutes vocabulary
Afternoon:
• 1 hour grammar
Evening:
• 1 hour listening
Night:
• 30 minutes speaking practice
Every single day.
Tools I Recommend
📚 Textbook:
Menschen or Netzwerk
📱 Vocabulary:
Anki or Quizlet
🎧 Listening:
Easy German (YouTube)
DW Learn German
🗣 Speaking:
Language exchange partners
Online tutors
✍ Writing:
Write one paragraph in German every day and get feedback.
Biggest Mistakes Nigerians Make
❌ Waiting until they can afford B2 before starting
❌ Memorizing vocabulary without using it
❌ Ignoring pronunciation
❌ Studying only on weekends
❌ Being afraid to speak because of mistakes.
If you become genuinely good at German, the certificate will follow.
The people who succeed aren’t always the smartest.
They’re the ones who stayed consistent for months while everyone else gave up.
Eight months of discipline can open doors that years of wishing never will.
Start today.
Your future in Germany begins with your first German word.
Viel Erfolg! 🇩🇪
How to Japa to Germany with Just ₦2.5 Million Through German Ausbildung
The truth is, if you plan properly, German Ausbildung can be one of the most affordable legal pathways to relocate to Germany.
An Ausbildung is a vocational training program where you learn a profession while working for a company. In many cases, trainees receive a monthly salary, making it easier to support themselves after arrival.
Here’s a realistic budget:
1. Learn German (A1 – B2)
Estimated Budget: ₦1,000,000
This should cover:
German language classes from beginner (A1) to upper-intermediate (B2)
Study materials
Practice tests
Speaking practice
Many Ausbildung employers require at least B1 or B2 German, depending on the profession and employer. Healthcare programs often expect B2, while some other fields may accept B1. Always check the language requirement for the specific program. (German Missions Nigeria)
2. Goethe German Exams
Estimated Budget: ₦300,000
A recognized language certificate is usually needed during your application process.
A budget of around ₦300,000 can cover Goethe examinations depending. Current exam fees in Nigeria vary by level and whether you are an internal or external candidate, so verify the latest prices before registering. (Goethe-Institut)
3. Germany Visa
Estimated Budget: ₦120,000
The German national visa fee is €75, payable in naira at the embassy’s exchange rate, though you’ll also need to budget for document preparation, passport photos, and other incidental expenses. (German Missions Nigeria)
4. Flight Ticket
Estimated Budget: ₦1,000,000
If you book early and remain flexible with your travel dates, you can often find flights within this budget.
Total Estimated Budget
German Language: ₦1,000,000
Goethe Exams: ₦300,000
Visa & Processing: ₦120,000
Flight Ticket: ₦1,000,000
