Post-update IG: Reels from smaller creators will be highlighted first to a targeted audience and then expanded if successful, similar to TikTok's approach. This aims to help lesser-known creators gain rapid visibility (and encourage new users to start creating on the platform).
These changes are designed to provide better visibility to smaller creators and promote original content on the platform. As a CM, it is crucial to adapt to these new algorithm changes.
What do you think of these updates? Have you noticed any differences since the change?
4/ Reels are no longer prioritized. Since their debut in 2020, Reels were favored by the algorithm. Now, all content formats are shown equally. Static visuals are BACK in competition.
🚨 Important Update: Instagram Algorithm Changes 2024 🚨
A few weeks ago, Instagram announced significant changes to its algorithm. Here’s what you need to know to adapt and thrive in the new insta meta:
3/ Sharing is now more important than saving. The previous call to action, "Save this post," is now outdated. Sharing your post is the new metric that demonstrates its value and helps boost its visibility.
2/ Post reach has become more complex. Instagram now shows your content to a smaller portion of your followers first. If they don't interact, your reach will be limited. Creating engaging content that encourages interaction is now crucial.
1/ Hashtags NO LONGER boost visibility. Instead, focus on keywords. Similar to SEO, using keywords in your posts will help your content appear in user searches. Integrate them naturally in your text or visuals.

25 years ago yesterday, AMZN went public. As the Grateful Dead would say, “What a long, strange trip it’s been.”
It’s been far from smooth. Lots of risk-taking, lots of invention, lots of mistakes, so much we still have to do better. I wouldn’t trade the ride for anything.
