Analysis⬇️ Tyler Herro gets an excellent matchup tonight vs NYK. The Knicks have improved overall on defense, but they still rank 14th in defensive rating in the NBA. They are terrible at defending the pick & roll due to Towns in drop coverage. What this means is he is back when guards come off that high screen and it often allows for some clean opportunities in the 3-PT and mid range pull-up game. This is great for Herro who should have the volume and take advantage of the drop coverage. We see NYK has allowed the most points, possessions and frequency to the pick & roll ball handler this season. That's ideal for Herro who easily leads the Heat in possessions and points in this action. As mentioned, Knicks give up alot of pull-up shots with Towns often playing in drop coverage. This season they give up the 23.9 pull-up FG attempts per game which is 5th most this season on the 3rd highest frequency. 45% of Herro's shots are pull-ups in his last 15 games. If we look at a more recent sample, the Knicks have allowed even more pull-up volume. In their last 10 games NYK gives up the highest frequency of pull-ups in the entire NBA. Lead guards have had no issues getting up shots in this spot vs NYK recently: Curry 28 pts twice on 20 and 21 FGA, Harden 27 pts (20 FGA), Luka 32 pts (23 FGA), Morant 25 pts (22 FGA), Maxey 30 pts (32 FGA). These are some huge games just since the all star break vs the Knicks, I like the chances for Herro here. He has already had elite volume in both meetings vs Knicks this season, 24 and 20 FG attempts. That's great to see and Herro could get even more USG if Wiggins sits out (Questionanle, missed shoot-around). Tyler put up 22 pts on 24 FGA vs Knicks 2 weeks ago, but got alot of quality looks rather than the defense forcing all those misses. We should also be expecting some positive regression in the FG% for Tyler as he is shooting just 42.5% on FG's and 28.2% on 3's since February 1st. He's a much better shooter than that and we've seen that over a large sample. Great spot everything considered. Widely available on Sportsbooks, and some DFS sites like Chalkboard, Dabble, Sleeper.
