@SmithersMarty@ValValpuriam We are agreed entirely. When I criticize him, people sometimes jump to the "but the (provincial) Liberals and NDP!" rebuttal. The way I view it is an incumbent should defend his or her record - doesn't matter the party.
And it doesn't mean I'm arguing for other parties.
@NML_Canada@ColinDMello@fordnation Oh yes. It's ironic how so many anti-lockdown and anti-mandate voices suddenly became Ford apologists when he dropped the mask mandate in March of last year. Call me crazy, but I will never defend the man.
@DSinthe613 @vote4robgill @fordnation Scratch below the surface and I don't really think D'Mello was ever a fan of Ford's, personally. A Conservative? Maybe. A Ford fan? No.
@TO_Resident Thanks for the coverage, @TO_Resident. Patrick Brown's removal from the leadership of the Ontario PCs cleared the way for Ford. That wasn't coincidental.
Now, Ford threw Tory under the bus, as diversion.
@LisaPow33260238@AndrewLawton Oh yes. To be clear, this was a minority, but it's a major reason why it was still important to remove the mask mandate, even though it was *largely* ignored.
It's about time that @WesternU dropped the "classroom mask mandate," such as it was.
Most profs didn't enforce -- those who did could be draconian, singling students out and cancelling classes, thus pitting students against one another, as a form of collective punishment.
@Chuck_zw I used to vote CPC (and PC provincially) loyally for years. Started voting independents around 2010. I appreciate the "don't split the vote" argument, but people *also* need to realize that the CPC doesn't own us.
@toofat4facebook@WesternU Yes, I know that some profs did enforce.
This is what I am saying: Most didn't (including moi) -- good on them. Some did -- shame.
Glad the mandate is (finally) gone.
It's beyond time.
Anyone who wonders what classroom masking at @westernu looked like should look at the article photo.
Unfortunately, some profs *did* try enforcing the mandate, which created unneeded tension among students.
Ageism and classism.
As of Monday at 4 p.m., Western is ending its classroom mask mandate. The university will instead strongly encourage mask wearing in instructional spaces.

@Fritzandfrieda @Aly_Meek @WesternU Neither will not wearing them -- which, now, they don't have to. :) (not even technically, noting that easily 2/3s of professors weren't enforcing it this year.)
@toofat4facebook@WesternU Yes, I didn't notice (until after I posted it) that it was pre-Covid, lol.
But yeah, The Gazette took photos of other classrooms this past year -- similar situation, unmasked.
I am at Western -- most profs didn't enforce, thankfully, this year. Some did, though.
