Yu-Gi-Oh! Jk, the real answer is: the ancient Egyptian board game Senet.

Senet was played by Pharaohs and farmers alike, and heavily associated with the afterlife. We thought a roguelike board game deck builder based on ancient Egyptian mythology sounded awesome

@fricodev Indie game dev really asks you to do it all! Design, code, art, UI, writing, etc. all go into the game, and then on top of that you need to be a marketer, social media copy writer, and video editor! 😅😅 I know I've learned a lot of new skills as an indie dev

@Ahwhwh2740394 I’m a programmer for our upcoming deckbuilder. We spent a long time working on the core of the game and it took a while to see visible artifacts from that labor. I interspersed this low-level stuff with some more visible demos like particle effects, animations, etc. That helped!
