@ScreamWithRCS @_ZackLarsen Even if there is a problem… She’s a huge star right now, not to mention immensely talented. You reduce her role and schedule around her a la Neve in Scream 3. You don’t just give up and lose one of your best assets.

The only character they have who doesn’t feel finished is Kirby and I don’t think that’s enough. A TV series following Kirby solving crimes, yes. But as the sole legacy in Scream VII? Nah.

They’ve written themselves into a major corner. The Core Four was established so strongly it’s near impossible to lose one or two. They all have to go. They killed Dewey and Judy. Maybe burned bridges with Neve. Zero effort on giving Gale any new story to work with.

I hated Scream V and I don’t care who knows it, but Scream VI did the impossible and got me back on board. It was far better than a fifth sequel should be and the core four are wonderful leads. It’s mind boggling that Paramount and Spyglass have chosen to sink the franchise now.

@LEMONSQU4RES @cyberghostface Agreed! The franchise is 100% soft rebootable, but it’s not there yet. We need a closing chapter for the Core Four, followed by a 5-8 year break, then an H20-style relaunch with Sid’s return (with her now-teenaged daughters.)

...They're setting up their cards perfectly for a soft reboot in a few years time that brings back Sid and her now-teenaged daughters.

Scream could achieve the amazing feat of reaching movie 8 and having their own H20 moment, all without having to reboot continuity even once.

I hope the very first thing they do with Scream VII is make a firm decision on whether they intend the series to end or continue and get the studio and creative teams on the same page.

If they decide to end it, then step two is obvious: get Neve on the phone immediately.

If they think there's life beyond the seventh installment, Sid needs to be left out. The last movie proved the new cast can carry it alone and VII should be treated as the conclusion of their trilogy.

And by letting Sid sit this one out again...
