@Danielsrotaryo1 The residents of Indian controlled Kashmir are also full citizens of India, you cannot say the same about Palestinians in the West Bank who are not citizens of the state that governs them.
@AnalyticaCamil1 I think as long as places like Syria have wretched poverty and there are grievances that Sunni Arabs hold about the political systems in both countries, that there will probably always be some attraction to joining ISIS until these problems are rectified somehow.
@AnalyticaCamil1 I do not believe the US military is able to stop a low level recruitment of ISIS fighters in the Badiya in Syria/Iraq. Is the theory of victory to kill every ISIS insurgent in existence? That's obviously not possible, so I'm wondering what exactly is the theory of success here.
@mpdimino Also Colonel Myles Caggins saying "the flags of the international coalition will end, but the troops will remain". Is that true or is that just cope from people who don't want us to withdraw?
@LondonBel0w5 @sfnzmi Both sides blame each other for each other's part in the withdrawal when I don't think it would've ended much differently no matter what
@sfnzmi @ryangrim I'm feel fairly lonely bc I'm of the opinion Trump was right to negotiate with the Taliban on the deal to withdraw and Biden was right to withdraw the remaining troops, I'm just hoping the next President fully withdraws from Iraq and Syria next. Somalia too
@McFistoWaltz Because we returned to Iraq in 2014 at the request of the Iraqi government to defeat ISIS, which lost the last of its territory in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria in 2019.
@Klayhamn_ @QatarWCenjoyer @aziz0nomics Well it's fair to bring up because it likely would have had us avoid almost 20 years of needless and pointless bloodshed for both Americans and the Afghan people. You can't change the past, true, but we can and should try to learn from it.
@Klayhamn_ @QatarWCenjoyer @aziz0nomics The 2016 peace deal between Colombia and the FARC and the peace agreement between the Filipino government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front
@Klayhamn_ @QatarWCenjoyer @aziz0nomics When the US and the Taliban struck the Doha Agreement, the Taliban were at their strongest battlefield/negotiating position ever
@Klayhamn_ @QatarWCenjoyer @aziz0nomics There's a lot of peace agreements with former insurgents where they agree to law down arms in exchange for amnesty and becoming a political party within the existing system which is basically what was on the table here
