@confusionm8trix I was very very surprised by it all being real, but it made a lot more sense when I went to the website and saw Dan’s fingerprints everywhere lol
@confusionm8trix Do you ever listen to a song and your A/C happens to harmonize with it and feel a fleeting moment of euphoria? That happens with my toothbrush sometimes
Yes, it sucks pretty bad that many roads/sidewalks in DC are not cleared. But anyone who bothered to step outside would see that it’s not snow, it’s inches of rock-hard ice. Especially when cars have been driving on top of it for days, plows probably can’t properly clear it out.
Even if cars are staying on the road, there are cheap ways to engineer intersections and other road segments to reduce driver speed and make everyone else happier and safer. You’re allowed to want le epic autotaxi, but it’s no match for faster buses and trains
Just my intuition speaking, but I don’t think city council working extra hard to bring waymos is an optimal way to spend their effort. The best way to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe is to get cars off the road, which this doesn’t really address!
@BarredinDC again, I always preach if we do the opposite of what Allen suggests, DC will be a better place
Waymo:
96% fewer injury crashes at intersections
92%% fewer accidents with pedestrians
82% fewer injuries involving cyclist
Sure, we need legal procedures but my god figure it out
