@tr_babb The reason they get this wrong is because obviously, the way these these things are trained, there must be tons of references in the training data to proxima being "the closest star" etc.
However an actual thinker Must note that to >>>Earth<<< its obviously the Sun. :p
@tr_babb Indeed.
This one is my favourite trolling question for LLMs.
Early versions of ChatGPT (3 I think?) used to get this wrong too. But even local LLMs get this right nowdays.

@ToughSf I once had the concept for a scifiesque setting of Mars domes being able to make deliveries to each other (or teams outside) by having a big railgun shoot parcels (since low gravity/thin air gets you huge distances)
And then the "shell" would open up one of these to slow down :P
@ToughSf There is also a fun EADS Mars landing concept which involves an inflatable rotor (not to be a "helicopter", rather to do an autorotation based landing)
Might be the closest one can get to parachuting stuff on Mars (that gets you all the way down that is)

@CJHandmer@Robotbeat@astro_Pettit@Space_Station Pretty sure any attempt to try to make a small object, orbit another small object inside the ISS gets ruined first by being essentially inside the ISS's mass Roche limit
And after that get ruined by the Earth's Hill sphere (so you can't even get a ball bearing to orbit the iss)
@visegrad24 Nowhere near.
This is shock tube (which itself is an even slower version of "detonation cord") that explodes along at about 2,000 m/s. Aka about 2 km/s
Light is 299,792 km/s
What you see is many, many orders of magnitude slower than light.
@tr_babb The idea is that most of them will fail but maybe some of them can rich worlds they can survive.
And then. You wait until the entire process of evolution has happened and an intelligent species appears that start looking at their own DNA and finds tha junk section
@Kerbo46188000 Heaven of Heavens would of course be a reference to Space
The great deep is the rest of Europa's ocean
Even inside the ice layer the dome's heat would likely melt a liquid pocket around it
Sheol maybe a dark automated factory with security hostile to non authorized personnel
@Kerbo46188000 This is just asking for the sort of scifi novel where a primitive civilization has a silly to the reader cosmology like so.
Only for all of it to actually be kinda true. Because in reality they are in the future and have forgotten their past.
@GlasnostGone Bucha is actually practically small fries compared to what will be found in Mariupol one day.
(Mass grave at 47° 8'16" N - 37°29'10" E one can see from space growing. Difference from 2014, until which it was the area reserved for the city's normal cemetary, to 2022)
@Noahpinion Its still unbelievable to me how that idiot could have had half a continent of support.
The part that specifically hated communism no less. (because they experienced it)
And tossed it/is tossing it all away because he wants to please a couple sadistic parasites riding his ass.
@Noahpinion He is right but conniving never having the guts to mention and "forgetting" the other two additional two example of this sort of A/B system testing. And statism vs free-er configurations.
- The performance of E.Europe when out of Russia rather than in it
- Taiwan vs China
@elonmusk True. But theres also two more examples of this and mysteriously @elonmusk tends to never mention these.
A) The performance of the entirety of E.Europe vs Russia's current Statist ideology.
B) Taiwan vs China.
Lets see when he will have to guts to do so.
@Noahpinion This means it does nothing for bringing jobs back.
Whilst, the products being cheap was at least their one good feature.
Since the ideal economics theory was, that at least that way said buyers ends up with more capital, and maybe can use that to make more jobs blah blah.
