Thanks so much for your support @desusnice, @THEKIDMERO, @lilly_wachowski, and all of the 40+ WGAE members at Showtime! We're fighting HARD to get a fair and equitable deal for everyone before our contract expires. https://t.co/4duSTxang6
it's been a big week for media unions, and there's no better way to make big wins across the industry than promoting ~solidarity~
@viceunion is fighting for raises and better pay, and we need your support to get there! #1u#1vice1contract
With only two bargaining sessions left, we expected management to make reasonable economic proposals yesterday. But they're refusing to budge on basic things, like simply defining our work hours. We need a fair contract, and we won't settle for less. #1Vice1Union
Michelle is a dream to work with — perfect instincts, writes the kind of sentences that clear your mind and send you to places you've never imagined before. She's taught me so much about how the world & the internet work. I can't imagine work without her.
Getting Laid Off On Your First Day Of Vacation Is Good, Actually
it’s been an incredible 2 years at @Refinery29. thank you to the editors, writers, and directors who helped me create the best work of my career. thank you to the @R29Union, I love you endlessly, keep fighting ✊
So today is my last day at @Refinery29, and I'm heartbroken. I'm so thankful to my brilliant team, @R29Union, and everyone who let me write about the insane world of pop culture and so many of the things I love. Open to all opportunities.
After almost 6 years, today is my last day at Refinery29. It’s been an honor to work with so many amazing and talented women — know that I’m always rooting for you! As for what’s next, I’m open to any and all opportunities.
A special shout-out to the freelance writers who worked for/with Vice and Refinery editors who are 1000% impacted by these layoffs and have no doubt lost a steady gig along with the editors who were laid off (hi!! It me too!). We’re often overlooked but this shit hurts us all.
Well... I honestly don't know what to say at the moment, but after 5 years, I have been laid off from @Refinery29. I'm gutted. The work I've been able to do, particularly in the last year, has meant everything to me and I adore my team so incredibly much. @R29Union FOREVER
To quote a meeting I had, I'm an "eliminated position" today. I'm heartbroken and shocked, but I'll always be proud of the work I've done over the last four and half years as R29's (senior) TV critic. Open to any and all opportunities going forward ❤️
Yesterday, 18 staffers, freelancers, and contract workers at VICE and Refinery29 were laid off. They are exceptional talents and would be a valuable addition to your publications. Follow them. Hire them. Here they are:
We, the freelance employees of Jigsaw Productions, are excited to announce that the overwhelming majority of us have signed union cards and decided to organize with the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE). @JigsawProds
Today, we learned that 33 of our unit members — nearly 30% of our unit — are being laid off. Our union's statement: "We are devastated and infuriated, particularly after an exhausting year of covering a pandemic and working from home." (1/x)

NYS passed a credit for hiring Women & PoC to write & direct TV, BUT the credit won't take effect until a State funded disparity study is complete.
Pls sign this letter urging key NY officials to fund the study this budget:
