Premier forum for discussion of the international scholarly content supply chain — bringing knowledge from the Researcher to the Reader. London every February.
I am not involved with @R2RConf although I the organizer, @CardenM, well. Early bird registration ends Wednesday, with a full refund if you change your mind by end Jan. Great conference programme, no risk. I wish other confs could do this in case attendee plans change.
Today is the last day of #R2RConf 'early-bird' discounts.
Registrations are reaching record rates, even beyond pre-pandemic 2020. Be with the 'in crowd', and register today!

@RouhiRoo@wileyinresearch Anyone who thinks #hybrid is going to make #scholcomm conferences cheaper doesn't understand the technology/expertise required to make a #hybrid meeting actually work. It's expensive AF
(loving this template, @RouhiRoo !)
@gwendabird Mostly because hybrid is HARD and EXPENSIVE and arguably WORSE (more clunky for all than just online or just physical).
But we still believe it is necessary, obligatory and worth it.

@profjamesevans@dashunwang Prof Evans' 30 min talk at @R2RConf covers a lot more than what's here, so I recommend giving it a watch.
Here's where he starts talking about this study:

If we want disruptive science, what type of teams should we fund?
I attended a talk by Prof James Evans (@profjamesevans) about this back in 2019. I think about it most weeks.
Here's a summary 👇
@CardenM At #R2RConf in February, our most international panel was a moderated conversation, pre-recorded and edited down from 2 hours to 30 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of fully-live hybrid Q&A. A lot of work, but it seemed to go very well.

@CardenM It is really hard to do a good global panel, given the timezones, tech risks etc, especially if you want to have an actual conversation, not a series of presentations (even if they are really good, as at #STMFrankfurt).
#R2RConf will be in a hybrid format again for 2023, in a live and highly-interactive meeting on 21-22 February, in London and everywhere.
Register today, risk free, as we offer a 100% refund option until the end of January.

@cofactoranna Yes, debates CAN have the vices expressed in these Tweets. Maybe different issues are suited to different formats, and a well-manged debate can (sometimes) bring clarity to a carefully-articulated binary issue. #R2RConf also has collaborative workshops and interactive panels.
The #R2RConf Call for Papers is still tantalisingly open for a few more days. We have a good response so far, and welcome more. We particularly seek proposals on: Funding, AI, Integrity, Peer Review, Evidence Synthesis, Metadata, OSTP Policy, Discovery and Registered Reports.
Today is the closing date for the #R2RConf Call for Papers. But most people will probably be late, especially if they are at #alpsp2022, so we are extending the open period by a week, as usual, to allow people to get their last-minute proposals in to us.
Ok, the #R2RConf Call for Papers seems to be happening as normal; one proposal on Monday, two on Tuesday, six so far today... Looks like it might be a busy few days to come. Please get your proposal in over the next few days.
One problem with conference panels (even brilliant ones like the #alpsp2022 Books panel) is that the first 20 minutes is all introductions.
This is why we have mostly banned introductions and mini-speeches at #R2RConf panels.
