@GG37374104 One of my pet theories is that canadas suburban model is terrible for immigrant integration in the long term. The old “chinatown’s” and “little italys” were small integrated hoods, where people of backgrounds mingled. Suburbs isolate communities, leading to balkanization
@Andercot That’s also because they don’t emigrate in large numbers. I agree with your observations (a bit stereotypical), but it’s hard to get angry at people you don’t interact with outside of a sushi restaurant (who also might happen to be koreans working anyway, as is common)
@JakeLandauTO If the goal is affordable healthcare for all, be results driven. If its government care only, then your aim is not care, but process.
I think results are a better goal, personally.
@JakeLandauTO Do you have any idea how medical systems are run in any other developed country? Mixed is the standard, with better results, universal coverage and lower costs.
Unless you insist the Germans, Swedes, French, Swiss, Norwegians, Danes, Dutch, Japanese ect disgust you…
@RishiRamaraju@jasonc_nc More land is misunderstanding. All the land in Alaska isn’t worth peanuts to people elsewhere. If more space = more safety, then the facts would back that up.
They don’t.
@GMDanTO The gap between ford’s approval (21%) and his party (high 30s) tells me where the OLP needs to be if they want to be serious about governing.
It’s not trying from to poach from the NDP.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO It's pretty clear you have your own mind on this and prefer to straw man or assume my motivations than engage in any thoughtful way. have a good day
@RomanFisher__@kylejhutton I think it's immoral to deny someone care who is willing to use their own resources. I don't think this means we have to abandoned universal care in that process. All of Europe has mixed systems with more flexability, better outcomes, and often lower costs
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO We can debate the merits of safety injection sites, or whatever other policy that can help people. But that doesn't mean we are obligated to allow them do whatever they want in the meantime on public transit.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO Even without an option, it's still not acceptable. Would we allow them to jack off on the subway because there's no safe masturbation sites? Drugs are not permitted there. it's not really the publics duty to provide alternate sites. Perhaps thats practical, but not obligated.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO I dont know what to say. If you think drug use is acceptable on busses, you are the fringe minority and probably dont use transit. because ive never one e met a person who does use transit and wants that.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO I’m sure if you have children, you would rage if homeless people used the school as a shelter or place to use drugs during operation hours. Stop being an idiot.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO Im sure i’ve thought about this a great deal more than you. Theres always a trade off. The transit system is not a safe drug use area. It’s not complicated. if we need safe places, im more than open to that idea. But not on the transit line, just like not at the playground.
@PJJMD@JurassicJimee@JakeLandauTO I’m sure there are many reasons, none of them acceptable to people who pay and use transit. I wouldn’t accept drug use in a grocery store or my kids school either.
