At this minute 27 years ago, the CSWR's DOW3 mobile radar recorded the most intense wind gust ever measured by any instrument. An instantaneous (0-second sustained) velocity of ~321 miles per hour was estimated.
Check out my first ever news interview when I was 18 on the storm chase of the F5 on May 3, 1999 from Bridge Creek to Moore, Oklahoma. This was the very beginning of working with media as a storm chaser for the next 25 years

NEW: Kentucky family rejects $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center despite the offer being about 10 times the going rate for farmland in the area.
"If it's my way, I'll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn't mean anything."
"As long as I'm on this land, as long as it's feeding me, as long as it's taking care of me, there's nothing that can destroy me if I've got this land."

3 weeks ago, on 11/24, a rare, strong tornado made landfall in Australia's Queensland Province, east of Gympie.
Radar analysis shows that this was a classic nudger case.
The tornado began as a waterspout right after a favorable nudger interaction near the book echo.
Ever feel like your town gets more nighttime tornadoes than others?
Here's a map of tornadoes by time of day (nighttime tors are plotted on top of daytime tors to stand out). I feel for you Tulsa, Jackson, Birmingham, Nashville...
The USS Indianapolis monologue in Jaws (1975) is chilling every single time. Robert Shaw delivers it like a man remembering something he can’t ever escape, and the whole film goes dead quiet around him. One of the greatest speeches ever put on screen.
Here is another video update from us here at SWPC as the final CME has arrived. Hopefully these help, please let us know if you find them useful and we'll see what we can do for future events. Stay space weather aware at https://t.co/TV7Yw6LXRw
Incredible satellite animation showing the flow of air/clouds over one of the Channel Islands of California (specifically, Santa Cruz Island).
The airflow is disrupted by the island and forms a pair of huge, persistent counter-rotating vortices that look just spectacular!
Also lots of waves, ripples, and other cool dynamics easily visible.... Fascinating loop for enjoyers of air and water vapor!
