This morning, South African police officers intercepted a bus travelling from Zimbabwe to South Africa at N1 North, Pepperboom. The bus was overloaded, carrying 90 passengers instead of the allowed 71 seated passengers.

Officials also discovered that passengers did not have passports, the bus did not have a cross-border permit, and was operating without a valid licence. As a result, it was taken off the road and is now being held at the Polokwane Traffic Control Centre.

Arrangements are being made for alternative transport so the passengers can continue their journey.
