@ING_Aust Many people incl myself are waiting for salary deposits that are now hours late. No replies to our Facebook posts or messages. What's happening and when will we get our money?
I feel a bit better about #amquerying when I pretend it's online dating: the vast majority of those people are absolutely not a fit for me (nor I for them) and it's for the best that we don't go to the Grove and make small talk about our lack of shared interests anyway.
So I'm trying to get back onto the querying horse after a long summer break and I feel a bit despondent and well, vulnerable. What's your best motivational tip for querying? #amquerying#WritingCommunity
@RebeccaPodos I don't know that I'm competent, but I think the trick is to focus on the senses not the mechanics and leave room for the reader's imagination. We all know how it's done. Diana Gabaldon has a good book about writing sex scenes.
Nothing better than a new (to me) book arriving just in time for Xmas Eve reading. Merry Christmas everyone! @ Blue Mountains National Park https://t.co/3huj6nc3Rd
Hey. Listen.
YOU’RE NOT TOO OLD.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE.
And if you feel like giving up, please don’t. Rest. Heal. Reassess. Take a break. Months or even years if you need to. But please don’t give up.
❤️
@FrancoMilitia @WolfOlde Who knows we might be banned from beaches again here... I have my fingers crossed we actually get to enjoy the summer out of the house 😬
Heading into a six week querying break so I can focus on my wip, read lots of books, and enjoy the Aussie summer with my family. #amquerying#amwriting#wip#WritingCommunity
@heliofractal And my latest book was originally just for me. When I found my life turned upside down by illness at age 38, I couldn't find a novel that accurately expressed how it felt. I wanted to capture it but not in a sad way. My mantra was "tell the truth".
@heliofractal My first book was a children's chapter book and I wrote it because I couldn't find a children's book with a MC who shared my daughter's name. A friend said, why don't you write one? So I did. My first adult novel was a fun challenge just to see if I could do it.
@CalliArena Oh I feel this. After eight books, I've learned to never bin anything, no matter how I feel. I keep all my deleted scenes in a document and often go back and recycle. One day's trash is another day's treasure.
@ALGauthor Hahaha I can relate. I'm 43 now but only a few years ago I was buying my kid's school stationery and the guy at the counter asked me if I was looking forward to going back to school 😯 my kid overheard and was horrified. In my defence, I was wearing a high pony...
