"“In total, [the vehicles in the V2G trial] provided 107 kilowatts of support to the national grid. To put that in perspective, 105,000 vehicles responding in this way would fully cover the backup required for the whole of the ACT and NSW."

If you haven't seen it already, take a look at this doc for a comprehensive overview of the new design of the Wholesale Electricity Market set to commence in Western Australia next October. Great to be able to help pull it all together in one place. https://t.co/tv4SsnuYbH
The BSC Panel have agreed that Unmetered Supplies (UMS) Metering Point Administration Numbers (MPANs) with maximum demand over 100kw must be migrated to Half-Hourly Settlement, with a proposed deadline of 1 April 2021. Find out more on our website: https://t.co/CCelXLcsoV
Nice rundown by the AEMC of how locational pricing provides good signals for battery investment and operation. Focused on the Australian NEM, but applicable in any developed market. https://t.co/70w0Qi7Mlu
Viable storage over days to weeks is a critical timeframe for enabling intermittent renewables. Here's hoping this tech can scale.

Congratulations to the Energy Transformation Taskforce on publishing the first (400 page!) tranche of draft market rules for the new Wholesale Electricity Market in Western Australia. It's been our pleasure to support you. https://t.co/aEkER9XqHc
@PolarGirlNZ Yes. The technology exists already, the missing part is mechanisms to signal value and allow the flexibility to be monetised. Some work going on here: https://t.co/mjYeZmdpwx
Electric hot water load as energy shifting opportunity. New Zealand has had this for decades. Next step: making it accessible to all parties who value flexibility, not just distribution networks. https://t.co/PrGN80tSYu
Does it matter for me to play in a market with high renewable penetration and a low price structure? How can investors recoup there investment in such a market? What are new market mechanisms and products to do so? We are listening to Sue Paul @RBPEnergy @WECFELs @BusNZEnergy
With Alberta coal power in the news again today (ATCO selling its assets), I made a plot.

"you're buying a box of chemicals, and that box of chemicals has a certain life. People fail to realize that deploying batteries is very easy, and operating is very easy, but using their life up is very easy as well, if you don't operate it properly." https://t.co/6TmcJkoTvn
Take a look at this. The pale blue line is the @EIAgov projection in 2017 for US coal production if the Clean Power Plan were scrapped. The red line is the 2017 projection if it had taken effect. The dark blue is the 2019 projection, with no CPP. It's even lower than the red line
