@BenSasse May the Lord give you sufficient grace and strength for the days that He has allotted.
As many are saying, I echo, I'm thankful for your example in this and many other things.
@TheAlanNoble I used Grok to fact check your post, and according to Grok:
"Grok’s convincing but potentially inaccurate outputs, due to reliance on unverified data, could amplify misinformation..."
Grok is telling us to be wary of Grok.
The modern world is a funny place.
@MikeHalford604 That is a bizarre interview to give. It's hard to see how this could be in anyway beneficial for the team. It won't help them stay together nor will it help them get better prices for the players they're interested in trading.
Such a weird leadership choice...
@PastorBenMarsh @RepBrecheen Absolutely. Using governmental power to enforce parameters of right Christian teaching and practice?
The party that prides itself on guarding religious freedom needs to check itself...
@WhaddoYouMeme Yes! And... I think we're missing a serious opportunity for conviction if we don't also recognize what this reveals about Western Christianity's idolization of success and pride over service and humility.
Fear and idols... both at work, imho.
@Catholic_bro@onlychrispark Ah, thanks. I now see, as you pointed out above, that the issue is a mistranslation in between the original language and English on the Pope's twitter post.
I'd suggest the correct and charitable thing from the onset would've been for you to have simply said that.
@Catholic_bro@onlychrispark I don't think it's a stretch for people to be interpreting, "only compass" to imply the only infallible rule by which we measure/find our way for Christian life.
Of course it's your right to ignore this. But maybe you could better clarify your understanding of the difference?
An interesting read, for sure.
On one hand, the supposition that evangelicalism at large is insufficiently attractive to a person looking to chase the idols of wealth and position with their lives is more of a compliment than a criticism (for those with eyes to see it).
Long may low status associations be a part of our DNA.
On the other hand, it's a critique that we ought to consider carefully, if evangelicalism creates unnecessary hurdles and insufficiently empowers their people to live in and engage with the modern world in meaningful ways.
