Candidate quality matters. Republicans are going to feel it with Paxton in Texas, but Democrats aren’t immune either.
El-Sayed and Platner could make otherwise winnable races far more of a headache.
#SFGiants roster moves:
- RHP Dylan Smith recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.
- LHP Matt Gage placed on the 15-day Injured List (retro to June 2) with right knee inflammation.
Some pretty significant injuries in Triple-A.
Christian Koss has a left wrist fracture. He'll be re-examined in two weeks.
Grant McCray has a fractured hamate bone in his left write. Surgery on Thursday.
Gregory Santos has a right adductor strain. Out 2-3 weeks.
Right now? This is what I'd pick for the 49ers. Some notes:
- They're not going to get swept by LA or Seattle (and didn't last year with a skeleton of a team)
- There are quite a few "gimmes" on here, with Arizona twice, Miami, Atlanta, and Minnesota
- I'm pretty solid on Washington and Dallas just not being very good. The Commanders are ancient while the Cowboys are consistently chaotic, the Eagles win that division with the Giants in second place
- The Chargers and Broncos will be very good, the Chiefs and Raiders will not (the Chiefs could absolutely make the playoffs but there's levels in the AFC West right now)
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has signed a shoe endorsement contract with Chinese company Li-Ning -- a landmark 10-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Li-Ning extends his Curry Brand venture globally and encompasses basketball products, athleisure, the ability for Curry to sign athletes under his brand, and a full golf line.
Right-handed reliever Wilkin Ramos and infielder Buddy Kennedy are up from Triple-A. Jesus Rodriguez was optioned back to Triple-A, he wasn’t playing much since Daniel Susac returned. Joel Peguero went right to the 60-day IL with another hamstring injury.

ESPN sources: The Eagles are trading Pro-Bowl WR A.J. Brown to the Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick that is the better of New England’s two fifths. The deal that has been speculated on for weeks now finally is happening. Brown and Patriots HC Mike Vrabel are reuniting.
🚨🚨🚨
Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, per @rapsheet, @TomPelissero and me.
In exchange for Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and other draft-pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns.
The San Francisco Giants are promoting LHP Matt Wilkinson to Sacramento (Triple-A).
The pitching prospect was a part of the Patrick Bailey trade in the beginning of May.
Wilkinson has a 1.87 ERA on the year along with 49 strikeouts in 43.1 innings pitched.

@RCDiscussion Unfortunately Ramos is on the RH end of being a platoon bat with bad defense. I think he's a more realistic trade candidate than people think
Lee’s gotta stay on this roster. Devers and Eldridge do too, so DH/1B/RF locked down. Think Schmitt should control 2B/3B for the most part once one of Arraez/Chapman are dealt. From there? Who knows. Ramos, maybe.
Jung Hoo Lee really seems to be turning into that player he was in Korea and who he told me earlier this year he so much wanted to be for the Giants and their fans. Another three-hit game for him. He has nine hits in this series.
When new front office took over, they made it clear they would be slow with moving prospects. Cox is a bit of a different profile (older, more known for speed) but if he’s here he needs to start. Otherwise it’s just repeating mistakes Giants made with previous group …
