The stained glass window in the church of St Mere Eglise, France showing the arrival of the 82nd Airborne Division as they were dropped over the town On D-Day 🪂
When 102-year-old World War II veteran Wally King asks you to have a beer at the Stop Bar in Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy, you have a beer (or two) with Wally King at the Stop Bar in Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy. What an honor! Wally flew 75 combat missions in the Second World War in P-51 Mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolts. He was shot down in April of 1945, parachuting out of his P-47 over Germany and becoming a POW before then evading both German and Soviet forces on his way to freedom. Legend!
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Normandy with Wally three times for D-Day commemoration events with the Best Defense Foundation over the past few years. We always have a blast! 🇺🇸
82 years ago today paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division view an M-5A1 Stuart light tank that was knocked out by the Germans a few miles inland from Utah Beach. 🪖
I will never forgive Revenge of the Sith for nerfing Kit Fisto. I know Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars is no longer canon, but was there ever an in-universe explanation as to how Kit Fisto went from this to going out like a total punk in Revenge of the Sith? I get that the show deliberately presents Jedi fighting in an over-the-top manner (which I love, by the way), but I still don’t understand how they hyped Kit Fisto up only to have him suffer one of the most underwhelming and embarrassing deaths in the entire franchise. This is something that’s bothered me for over 20 years. Saesee Tiin was similarly badass in the Clone Wars micro-series and also went out in a pathetic manner.
Lieutenant Commander Donald D. Sheppard aims a flaming arrow at a bamboo hut concealing a fortified Viet Cong bunker on the banks of the Bassac River, Vietnam.
A British soldier tries on a German helmet and trench body armour and is attacked by a comrade. Filmed at British GHQ (General Headquarters) in Montreuil on the Western Front, ca. 1917.

@ivomgs Have you read the previous issues of this Black Cat run? If so, are they required reading for these next three issues? I’m hoping they’re not because I don’t care about Black Cat. I’m only reading issues #11–13 for the Punisher.
